Does this camera allow the option of turning off the flash? I am mainly interested in day time activity and do not want to alarm deer. I'm trying to decide what camera I should purchase. Thanks
Some IR cams make nighttime pictures blurry and grainy. Where as flash does not, but flash sometimes spooks deer. But, some deer are not spooked by flash, it all just depends on how your deer are.
I wouldn't go that route.. No personal experience with it here, but 99.9% of the reviews I've seen/heard about the cuddeback capture IR, are horrible.
I have the Moutltrie 4.0IR and am very pleased with it. Good night quality pics...and have gotten the same large bucks muliple times in the same location - so apparently not alarming them. I believe BH.com has for $169. My first set of batteries lasted 9 months and over 1000 pics...I'm very happy!
i would say no. probably the only way to get rid of the flash, would be just to take out the bulb itself. and i don't know if you would really want to do that because there will be those dark and gloomy days when the deer are moving and the picture's probably wouldn't turn out that great. your best bet would be to get an infared camera!!!
As was stated, you cannot turn the flash off on the Capture. And the Capture IR definitely could use some improvement. You need to step up to a higher end Cudde to get the day only option. IMO if you really don't want the standard flash and want to stay in that $200 range the new Bushnell Trophy Cam is a pretty good bet. There's also the DLC Covert (Scoutguard) that's in the same price range with good IR capabilities.
Yep...I am actually leaning towards a Bushnell or Covert camera now even before reading your response. Is there any difference between the two...I think they are made in the same factory aren't they? Thanks everyone for the responses
