About 15 minutes ago there while out walking the dog a Crow was in a tree attacking a birds nest trying to get at the young birds. One of the baby birds flew into a bush on the ground while a mob of Robins and Mocking birds screeched and mobbed the Crow. I've never seen anything like it in my life.

My wife asked me to do something, I'm like what!? So I grabbed a rock and threw it at the Crow hitting the branch it was perched on and it flew off as the other birds pursued it. Man I hate Crows I read they will kill young birds, but I've never seen it before. I know people can hunt them as a nuisance pest, but never participated in doing that either.

    Have any of you?

Yes, when the season is in I hunt them as often as I can. That is not often enough. I am not as good at it as I would like to be but contually get better.

I've witnessed crows hunting mice while cutting large open areas. Kinda interesting to watch. Also seen them catch little bunnies and carry them away successful sometime. Never seen them raid a nest. I've witnessed more then a dozen crows chase an owl. Also seen a number of them chase and pester redtail hawks.

Where I live... the season is always in. LOL When I moved in my new house here in NY somoene gave me a nice little bird house. I put it up about 10 yards from the house so I could see it out the window. It was made of cedar. A nuthatch family took up residence and had 3 young ones. I watched the grow and one day decided they would be flying within a week or so. I came home a couple days later to find the crows had enlarged the opening by about 2 times so they could reach in and eat the young. Now, all crows are in season. I can only shoot in a couple directions though. I'm on a hill and my brothers house and bare are only 150 yards away. He's got a neighbor across the road that limits shooting that way. Below the big bluff on another side is a road with several houses in the line of fire if I missed. It's tough to get a safe shot about 180 yards around my house because I'm skylined and misses go down hill. LOL

I see this quite often up here in spring. You will be driving down the road and a bunch of smaller birds are chasing and attacking a crow trying to fly away. It's nature. But I still hate crows.

It's like a coyotee in the sky.
