How about we all just get along. When you guys fight no one wins. Fight the people trying to take away our passion, not eachother.:bash:

Those that are against crossbow hunting are hunters themselves.

In any sport there will always be some who dont like this or that because its not what they have chosen. I hear crap from some of the compound shooters who do not like crossbows saying they are not traditional or crossbows give the user an unfair advantage . Well lets look at the two . With both you need to use both hands , They both have sites -peep- red dots or scopes can be put on both, well well they both Have Triggers who knew ???, They have strings , they shoot arrows , you can support an arrow on both WOW, They are both fast at second shots errr the compound is . I am not sure but did I touch on anything traditional ??? with my comparisons . If I missed anything worth wile please feel free to add on . :moose:

are we crossbow hunters a threat to the compound bow guys. If so then the compound guys should use a long bow and shoot with fingers.

I am for crossbows in archery season. Right now here in NY crossbows are legal during firearm season.

I'm thinking ahead. What if there comes a day when I can't draw a bow anymore? I have a friend that in his early 60's cannot draw without pain. Doc says his rotator cuff is to blame. He loves bow hunting and would love to be out earlier.

I hope the people in my state that oppose crossbow hunting never have to give up their implement of choice due to illness or injury.

In Maine convicted felons can now hunt during firearm season using a crossbow. 22 years ago I made a STUPID mistake and got in trouble for marijuana and have been unable to hunt and for the privilege of hunting now I have the disadvantage of having to compete with rifles...to me its a small price to pay to be able to hunt once again. I say its a good thing overall seeing as how I am -now/once again- 1 more voice in support of hunting issues.

Right now I wouldn't be able to get out hunting if it weren't for the Xbow...the Hoyt needs new strings which are most likely in the mailbox today but still need to get them on and get some practice in. It isn't the same but it does let me get out there and hunt and harvest some meat for the freezer. If that big one comes in and gets it from the Xbow I will by no means feel guilty of diminished for shooting him with it as opposed to the compound. The fact is I think my favorite type of hunting is still hunting in december with the muzzle loader and getting them bucks in thier beds...every bit as challenging and more, as sitting in the treestand and waiting for them to come to me IMO.

I'm kind of amazed this kind of noise is still going on. As a resident of Ohio crossbows have been legal for bow hunting season ever since I started bow hunting, and that was quite a while ago. I use a vert bow, but that's what turns me on. Meanwhile, the deer herd just kept getting bigger and bigger. Yet, when a state that doesn't currently allow crossbows considers it, the hand wringers come out in force claiming that xbow hunters are a bunch of bottom sucking lobsters that will ruin the deer hunting forevermore!

And how about those xbow manufacturers? They make a product, many of them right here in the good old U.S.of A, and they want to open new markets for their product, so they can sell them and keep their workers employed. Why those no good, low down, rotten bastages! How dare they??!!

As far as "slob" hunters go, yes, I've seen some that were using xbows. I've also seen some (and known some) who used vert bows and shotguns. As for poachers, the spotlighters here seem to have an affinity for rifles. And this in a shotgun state! The nerve of those guys!

And the statistics. There are more xbow hunters in Ohio than vert bow hunters. The harvest stats show that xbow hunters harvest more deer then vert bow hunters. Why is this a surprise to anybody? A surprise would be that fewer xbow hunters harvest a greater number of deer than more vert bow hunters! That might make a case against xbows.

And OHbowhntr, I went back and read the original post, and nowhere in it does the OP make the assertion that xbows are "the same as a compound or trad-bow", just that they are legal and we should get off their backs.

Right now here in Pa....crossbow hunting is exploding......a lot of the older guys including myself are enjoying hunting more then ever...I see a great future for this other tool we can now use.....even the younger hunters are getting into it.....this is just going to make our sport stronger and we both..archers&xbowers have to stand together to continue to support our sport...Thunderbolt

I started using a crossbow as a disabled hunter due to little to no sensation in my hands. I see why people complain about the xbows as it does remove some of the sporting nature, but so does compound bows and tree stands. I xbow hunt from the forest floor. Surgery has returned a lot of feeling to my hands and I may go to a recurve bow at some point. Here in Connecticut optics were banned from firearms hunting for a long time for similar reasoning. I've heard rumors of CT removing the disabled requirement for xbows as well. In the end we're all trying to have a good time in God's lap and put some food on our table.
