If your state currently does not have a season except for Seniors and they changed the law to allow it for everyone would you hunt with one? I myself would.
Yep. Id rather use a X-Bow then a gun and do during our gun season. Its the only time we can use them unless you have a permit. Next year looks like it will be open. Stop in and check out our X-Bows at www.talismancrossbows.com The Mantis will be in production soon. It can be set up Hoz or Vert.It will also shoot bullets and bird shot with a our rail system.
My bow has been giving me tuning fits, and then opening day the sights got knocked loose and I didn't feel comfortable hunting with it. Used my Barnett RC150 as a back up, got it for the kids primarily, but as a backup for me...was worth it. Don't see the issues folks have with them.
Last year this was made a reality in the PA woods. I don't agree with it, but I won't look down on those who will take advantage of it in a responsible way. What I saw the most of was older men, who were rifle only hunters, due to a perceived level of difficulty with a vertical bow, picking up xbows and heading to the woods after a short shooting session with a younger bow hunter as their instructor. These younger bow hunters, usually a son or grandson, were so excited at the thought of sharing the woods with their fathers or grandfathers that they were able to look past the lack of practice and give said student the thumbs up for hunting when they really should have pressed them to spend more time getting proficient with their new weapon. Will I use one? Not until I can't pull back 45 or 50 pounds. Have I encouraged someone to use one? Hell yes!!! I have been trying to get my wife's grandfather to get one since they passed the new law. The reality of it is, he could have easily gotten a permit for one BEFORE this new law, but he didn't because he wouldn't want to admit he couldn't pull a bow back. IMO the law was fine the way it was. There wasn't anyone that was being excluded from the bow woods, except some people who were intimidated by what they thought about vertical bows and or the unwillingness to admit they were physically unable to use one.
Nope! WI allows crossbow for the elderly (over 65) and the handicapped. These laws are supported by the majority of hunters in the badger state. Every time the question of full inclusion is asked in WI, it fails. Archerys tag sales in are on the rise, Bowhunting is very popular in Wisconsin. (see link) The popularity of bowhunting in birthplace of licensed bowhunting as a sport and game management tool is still growing in WI. Perhaps its due to the fact that nobody is excluded and everybody that wishes to partisipate can do so. http://outdoornews.com/wisconsin/news/article_e001af7a-d6dc-11df-a00c-001cc4c03286.html
