I always wanted one but never really felt a strong need for one yet. Almost all my deer I have killed are 25yds or less

This afternoon I got to watch two monster bucks go at it. Then they came and stood by me. Nothing is more hilarious then watching two little forkys trying to be tough guys.

I did have a fairly decent buck come out but he was dogging a doe and went the wrong way.

It was flipping cold out there and the wind didn't help. I will be out tomorrow and Sunday.

I use a Bushnell. It is their cheap one and doesn't compensate for angles. People seem to like the bushnell that does. Vortex, Nikon and Leica have good ones also and you should be able to find one that doesn't break the bank.

To top off that they have been dropping in price and getting more advanced in the past few years. Im sure next year you can snag a deal on one.

I would not go hunting without my rangefinder. It has made me a much more effective bowhunter. The buck I shot this year in Kansas I got to range ahead of time. I ranged him at 40 yards and made a perfect double lung and he only ran 50 yards and I watched him drop from my stand. I use a Nikon without the angle compensate but I think any of the major brands will work just fine.

Well... it was 16 below this morning. I went back to bed and slept in. I will be out this afternoon. Hopefully the freak buck does the same thing for the 3rd time. Wind will be right for me to sit in the first make shift blind that he has walked by twice now.

Well I will be heading out in the morning. Its gonna be cold.... 7* with a windchill of 0. Was thinking of sitting in a stand, but may have to be a wuss and sit in the blind with the heater on. Will do a cam check on the way in and see if that persuades me other wise. Hoping maybe this cold weather has them hitting the cut bean field eating on some of the beans that were spilled. Good luck to anyone else that heads out and braves the cold...

The deer didn't come out of the corn this afternoon. Was a little surprised but I don't think all the road hunters where helping. I only heard two shots all afternoon so I think it was a slow day in most areas near me.

I'll hit it hard tomorrow as it is the last day to fill my one tag.

Good luck Wesley and anyone going out tomorrow.

Well it wasn't a great last day for rifle season here. I went with bow until the very end. Saw one doe this morning. This afternoon was pretty much the same. Saw a doe and her fawns. Was pretty disgusted as that tag is now useless to me. I throw everything at it this week I could think of and froze my butt off. Had some good encounter but just couldn't close the deal. Sorry !!

I am taking a break and will be back at next weekend. Will just have to kill a big monster to get us some points with my bow tag.

I'll be back out this weekend. I can't believe how much the deer were running all week once rifle season ended and I was back at work. Tell me how they know ?? LOL Hopefully they are still on the move this weekend.

One of the bucks we were after was thought to be killed by a road hunter during rifle season. I got pictures of him a couple days ago on trail cam. That put a big smile on my face. This buck is going to drive me crazy.
