Opening day in Vermont tomorrow. Will be up at 0400 and hopefully in the stand by 0530. Shooting time is 0620. Hopefully my Sept hunt in NJ got all the jitters out early. Will be sitting till late morning. I get a lot of 9-10 activity and some noon time activity in the beech nuts. Good luck to everyone and make sure you tie in.

This is gonna sound crazy guys, but I'm indefinitely outta the woods....some nut job (Kevin welch) in eureka, ks murdered his inlaws and shot his wife. Then decided to abandon his stolen car in Toronto, ks (where my family's hunting ground is) and as of now he's still armed with an AR-15 and at large suspected to be running the southeast Kansas creek bottoms. Therefore, until he's caught ill likely be hanging near the house with my 9mm, 7 mm mag, 2 twelve guages, 22-250, 30-06, and AK-47 loaded and ready to go where I can see for a long ways off. There's FBI, state police , helicopters, Kansas bureau of investigation, and neighboring law enforcement combing the countryside looking for this guy. I'm wondering what kinda trail cam pics I'll capture from this event haha. Good luck to all y'all who can hunt!!!!

    That is crazy stuff Jeff.

Britney and I made it out this afternoon. Saw quite a few deer moving but nothing big. Then it decided to rain on us for the last half hour.

I will be out in the morning but more of a scouting trip. Will take the bow as you never know. Trying to see where a couple good bucks bed so I can come up with a game plan for the afternoon hunt. If I don't see them, then we will hunt another area in the afternoon. I am being extremely careful with these two bucks as I've got to hunt their bedding area.

Will be heading out to stand here shortly. Nice and cool here today, have a little rain moving in to. Should be in stand by 2 my time. Hoping one of the shooters walks by, I will only take a doe if it happens early, I have work at 430 in the am, and dont want to be out half the night tracking a doe. But if I happen to get one of the bucks I am chasing, my boss, aka"my dad" will cover for me.

well came close to adding 50 points to the score, but got busted drawing back because I was stupid and got excited and rushed the draw and she busted me. Oh well, it is a long season. I will be back out maybe tomorrow afternoon, or tuesday morning for sure.

Also, this is a post fitz made about score card entries, so far all of ours have been correct

    Scorecard Reminder!
Just did the weekly scorecard update.

Just a reminder that there are a number of entries that are missing information they need in order to count. Captains, please help remind everyone that each entry needs the following:

    Team number
Time & Date of kill (Mil time preferred, but just make sure to include AM or PM otherwise)
2 photos including the hunter, the bow, and the deer. (All 3 are needed in both photos)
Any bucks over 50 pts need to have a scoring breakdown

If you have harvested a deer & didn't get 2 photos it is void. If you can shoot another, it can be used as long as it meets the requirements.

I know there are a number of guys that have shot a doe, but didn't get photos. Luckily, most have additional doe tags.

I also wanted to point out that Team 14 is currently on top

Well fellas, the fugitive is on the loose still, but I've got a good wind to hunt one of my doe setups. Therefore, I'll be hitting the woods tomorrow morning looking for a big Kansas nanny :-)

Also, my big 8 I named the beast, made an appearance in my fall plot last week. I'm hanging a new muddy over it tomorrow afternoon and going to try to put a pattern of this buck together from weather underground and predict when he'll make an appearance again. I've never tagged a buck before November, but I'd really like to give this buck a heart poke. When I upload the pics of him in the plot to my phone I'll be sure to post here. Good luck everyone!!!

Choppers flying by, sirens on the road, the dogs are freaking out...and it's 1:20 am. I really hope they catch this guy soon. This isn't supposed to be going on in heartland America in a town of 200. My wife is very against me being in the woods while all this is going on....we'll see if my doe hunt happens....

Here's "the beast" in my fall plot last week. I've only acquired a few pictures of this deer all summer. He's pretty ghostly but I'm happy to know he's in the area still. I'm not great at judging age and scores, I'd love to hear what y'all's thoughts on him would be. I was thinking a definite 4 year old or better and approaching the high 140's-150".

He's on the far right in this picture, the guy on the left is an up and comer named "triple crown"

Sorry about the wrong year on the trail cam pics

That is a nice looking buck Jeff. I'm out in the tree today, not seeing much action. Will sit till around 11, been having a doe on cam around 10-1030. Then I'm gonna check my other cams and go get lunch, take a little siesta in the truck, then do an afternoon sit. Will be my last day hunting until the 20th-21st.

Good luck WL! I'm after a doe as well this morning. It's been an unusually quiet morning in Kansas so far. Had a raccoon at 10 yards with first light and nothing since.
