Gonna be another morning of dove hunting for me tomorrow. Then taking the wife out to the rodeo and to see Rodney Atkins saturday night. If i'm not too hung over Ill be out chasing doves again sunday morning and evening. Will do a cam check next weekend, and then I will do a card pull the day before season opens. Can't wait till Oct.1st, got 3 days off and a good bit of that time will be spent in stand/blind.

Great buck! I don't think I could pass him up. In another year or two though he would be a true giant. Sorry I don't have much to contribute right now guys. No trail cams and I'm on the other side of the country until October 26th. I have two solid months of nothing but hunting from that point on though.

Well didnt do too good dove hunting yesterday. The 2 places we went early, just didnt have any birds flying. Found a spot mid morning that was just covered, but by the time we got permission they had already started to fly up to roost. Was able to get 5 total. I pulled off a nice double, and then shot a bird that my buddy had missed. So I actually shot pretty good, only shot 4 shots and ended up landing on 3 of them. My buddy went back to that spot last night but said it was dead. Guess it was just a big group of birds migrating or something.

Gonna head back out this evening, my friend got a call from a buddy of his, they cut a corn field for silage a few days ago and said doves are hitting it hard now. Got a text message the other day about a buck getting hit close to where I am dove hunting in Illinois. Here is a pic of it, really a shame.

You're telling me! we took a heavy hit with winter kill in the whole state a couple years ago. Seems to be getting a little bit better in most places. The state's management doesn't seem to work. If you can find them there are some areas that are way overpopulated too, mostly with does because they aren't able to be hunted for the most part. Strange how it works.

Those are two very nice bucks !!

This weekend was slow until tonight. Britney should have had her first bow buck. We were hiding in a pigweed patch watching two trails. Britney on one side and me on the other. Two bucks were heading to my side so I had Britney sneak over so she could get a shot. Would have worked perfect until a flock of pelicans swan by herding minnows. They were making a lot of noise and the bucks went around to the other side that Britney " had " been sitting. AARRRGGGHHHHHH !!!!!

That is twice now that buck has escaped death. One of these times he won't be so lucky. I just hope it is before I have a nervous break down !!!! He was within 15 yards of us and she had no shot. Wished I would have just left her sit on the other side. She will probably fire me if I don't get my act together !!
