Wasn't on purpose. They're just the first extremists that came to mind. (End of resonse to PT....below is spoke, in general) Some Christians engage in the ultimate example of class-envy. That's what turns me and many off from organized religion. Your relationship with God is yours. I don't have to understand it. And, I won't comment on whtether or not your relationship (or anyone else's) deems you "worthy" of salvation. Return the favor.
Freedom of Religion was created by man, therefore it will always be fallible. Freedom to choose the Truth and not a lie is what America should be more concerned with. When you stoop to the level of those who oppose themselves, you have become one of them.
Many people do many extreme things in the name of God. Jim Jones, David Koresh, and Osama are the examples I think of. Just because there are zealots out there does not mean everyone involved with that rerligion is also bad. The person in Florida was trying to stir the pot and successfully did so. He has now backed down but got his 15 minutes of fame he was after.
Damn....jump on down my throat. Think about it for a second before you start your rant. At least Virginia Shadow got my point. Besides, I was raised in a baptist church, and like you, I don't recall blowing up abortion clinics or protesting soldiers funerals. All I was saying it that there are extremists in every branch of religion. Matter of fact, Westboro Baptist Church will be protesting a soldiers funeral 45 min. from my home town next week. Is my statement still ignorant?
Where was all the outrage when Nick Berg was getting his head cut off on national tv? Sure the preach prolly shouldn't be burning their good book. Their threatning to kill americans all over the world if he does??? Who are the real extremist? Google ole Nick up and it might just piss you off a bit.
Tony: I'm betting you they can twist some verse to justify their actions. I've seen it done in several instances.
