He's an attention *****. Burning the Quran is needlessly disrespectful, immature and possibly puts our troops in even more peril.

It's a right, per the 1st amendent. But that doesn't make it the right thing to do.

    Neither.

Burning any book is anyone's right in this country.

You SHOULD NOT be prosecuted for your beliefs.. if he was to burn a bible I would feel no different.

Burn away or don't burn.. makes no difference to me... just clean it up when you're done.

The fact that he was talked out of it is actually a kick in the balls to the constitution. Shame on anyone who choose to talk him out of it.

Not true Duke. What is next, someone pissing on a Bible in a mosque? There is a certain amount of discretion involved when invoking your Constitutional rights. I am not saying people do not have the right to burn a Qu'ran, I am saying there will be a price levied and more than likely that price would have been death to that man. I am a HUGE proponent of the constitution yet understand that every action has a reaction and in this instance the reaction would be highly detrimental and dangerous to American citizens and soldiers.

Just like those dumb f's that paraded around that dead soldiers funeral with sayings like, "god loves dead soldiers" and "god kills soldiers because of homosexuals" and such. YES they have first amendment rights but is that appropriate forum in which to invoke that freedom of speech? NO.

No.. that is not an appropriate forum for them to invoke their freedom of speech.. of course not.

But.. the constitution cannot make people smart.. or courteous.. or even compassionate. Too bad to.

It is still their right.. the moment we choose to interfere with that right and we loose it... impairing the constitution.

I'm not willing to do that.

There will always be someone opposed to my belief.. someone who wishes to burn my flag or curse my religion.. and it is their right to.

If your within striking distance I'll let you know though.:)

I hear you and I truly respect your views. In fact I completely agree with every single thing you said above. I believe in an EXTREMELY wide range of constitutional rights. I truly believe that if this world was meant to go to hell then it was meant to go to hell. At least open up the flood gates meaning take away/temper the stupid, oppressive laws that we have in place these days and really find out if man can make it in this world without laws for every little thing.

Why should they be ashamed? Are they not also guaranteed 1st Amendment rights? They can shout from the rooftops if they want. (provided they don't violate noise ordinances)

Talking somebody out exercising their rights is not at all the same thing as infringing on their rights.

It would be a 'kick in the balls to the Constitution' if the Federal, state or local government stepped in and stopped him.

My guess is after some pressure from the feds, the local government would have stepped in and stopped them via some fire code.

I have thought about this subject for a while now and the more i do the more i realize how scared folks really are. realizing that i then realized that by folks fearing these extremist they have given them power over our lives and our decisions. whats next?? what freedom will be oppressed next b/c of fear? islam states that homosexuality is an abomination to Allah do we allow them to determine that? Abortion is also a big "No No" in islam do we suppress that out of fear? do we face mecca to opease terrorist? we spit in the face of americans by saying its o.k. to build a mosque by the wtc but everybody gets bent out of shape over this minister burning a book that is a contradiction to his beliefs and the direct cause of the 9/11 tragedy that took thousands of lives. I wish we had a president w/ a pair to say we have freedom in this country and we arent going to suppress freedom and if you f#ck with us we'll wipe you motherf44kers out! and that goes for anybody!

Tony, I believe the point he is trying to make is that all religions have bad people that use their respective religious convictions to do evil things. His point is why single out Islam when all of the other religions do nasty, evil things to others just as well. At least that is my take...HAVE a good day!
