I can't wait...water temp is just about right here to start hitting them hard at Kentucky Lake. Buddies have been driving down to Lake Weiss in Alabama every weekend to fill the void and slaying them.

Anyone else fixing to hit the spring crappie season?

March 19th will be my first trip this year, probably make three solid weekends of it when it is all said and done..more if I tag out on turkey early.:busted:

Just got back from Gander and picked up a few packs of Southern Pro Hot Grubs, and some more minnow heads and roadrunner heads. Will be trolling more than anything this year.

Anyone else getting out for some springtime papermouths?

I am REALLY trying to find a way to incorporate a lake side turkey hunt so I can access areas by boat and then fish mid day if the hunting gets slow.

I love fishing kentucky lake for Crappie. Probably haven't done it in about 10 years but hope to make it back down in the next few years!

If I get the boat out this spring I plan on hitting up one of the local lakes to do some crappie fishing. I havn't really fished for any crappie in around 5 years, last time I did I hit them hard with those "flying lure" jig things that were on those t.v. ads. If I get the boat out there I am gonna have to do a good bit of muskie fishing too, its been awhile since I caught one.

My boat is more rigged towards bowfishing than fishing...but I'll get er done. Going bowfishing in the meantime.

I'd kill to catch a nice muskie those fish are awesome, wouldn't know the first thing about catchin em though.

I'm a rookie at crappie fishin too, but they have talked it up to where even a goof like me couldn't fail to catch fish the way they go at it...we shall see. LOL

We have very few up them up by my camp in Ontario. There is one lake about 1 mile from camp, Swan Lake, that has a few...but they are huge. I gotta try to get on them this spring when they are in the shallows.

    Good luck Trev!

Yea, crappie aren't exactly the hardest fish to go up against, its alot more about location than anything. If you can get onto a school of them it is pretty easy, if you have the perfect conditions and are using the right lure/bait it almost isn't fair.

I have only caught about a half dozen muskie with my largest being right around the 40" mark, not a monster but still the biggest fish I have caught. I am not huge into fishing for them, but the best piece of advice I was ever given was to just be patient and don't expect to catch them on every trip out.

My real passion is trout fishing, I look forward to it as much if not more than archery season. There is nothing like spending a day on the stream pulling out some of the most beautiful fish out there.

We've seen some real nice muskies when we're out bowfishing at night. (some state records) Some will just sit there and you have to steer around them lest you clobber them with the troller. For a tough to hook fish, they're kind of dumb. (or maybe they think they're tougher than a 18' pontoon with a 80lb thrust troller?)

We actually went over a beaver when we were out bowfishing on Friday. He/she hit one of the pontoons.

Trevor, I was actually going to ask you about this today. On Academy Outdoors tv show today they were catching crappie on Kentucky Lake. I was wondering if you had ever been.

As for me, yes I will definatly be hitting up the crappie hot spots in the near future. I love crappie fishing, and I love eating them even more :d

I've already been at it. The water is still pretty cold here, in the low 40's, so the crappie are still deep. But if you can find a brush pile 15-20 feet....... ;)

This is our last week end for Walleye until May, and the river is flooding. I was going to go all weekend, don't know what I'm going to do now.

Crappies, mighty tasty they are!! The best crappie fishing while the Ice Is still on Is yet to come here!! When the shore starts loosing Ice around the edges the Crappie an Sunny bite will be the best. After the Ice comes off and the water starts warming up, the shallows are good then!! Every year I try and hit It just right, doesn't always work out though.

I don't do alot of crappie fishing because everyone and there brother fishes for them on my good crappie lakes around here.

I have been slaying some big bass the past month or so. Best time to catch the big guys is late winter early spring.

Thats alot of fun. Back home we take the boat out on Raystown Lake and striper fish until we hear a gobble. Its a great way to cover lots of land and you get to fish while doing so.
