I was really looking forward to trying out the NAP Apache. So I took off my old rest and installed it. I noticed that there was not a lot of clearance between the riser on my Powerhawk and the arrow containment brackets. Well sure enough I started tuning it and it hit. So I moved my nock point and the rest to gain more clearance. It helped but I eventually ran out of room where the fletchings would have enough clearance. It was so close. Actually, it was close enough where I thought about just letting it and having my bow out of windage tune a little bit but I figured it would drive me nuts. There are a lot of people that hunt with bows much more out of tune then I would have been. So I guess the Trophy Taker X-tream FC will have to last another year until I upgrade bows next year. Then I will install the Apache on it. Oh well....... such is life.
Sorry to hear that man, I've gotten bit a few times having the old Martin Prowler. I originally had an old school drop away on my bow, but made the trade for the biscuit and now the hitman. I can't wait till I have my new bow paid off so I can use a drop away that I can tie to my cable. At that point, I will either buy an Apache or a Code Red.
I had the same issue, and used a file (after calling NAP) to clearance it enough to make it fit my riser. Its solid AL so it won't rust, and you really don't see it. Your call, it was worth it to me... Also, the gent I spoke to at NAP said he would take it back and give me a new one if it didn't work. I can try and take some pics later if you want, PM me. Sean
I don't have the Apache on anymore but you can see in the pics below that the Trophy Taker is close but does not quite hit. The Apache was much worse. Thanks Sean but I'm fine with sticking with the Trophy Taker for now. Not sure I want to start filing away. The Trophy Taker is a nice rest and I really like it but it has seen thousands of shots and it is starting to show it's age. I probably will get a new spring to freshen it up a little bit. She has one more year left in her yet. Next year the Apache gets the new bow.
