I have been trying to sell my kids yamaha breeze on craigslist and all I'm getting are *** holes trying to scam me and get me to ship it to them. I'm sick of it and would love to get my hands on these *** wipes.

The scams are either they will send me a "certified" check. Substitute certified with counterfeit. Once the bank realizes it was fake, its too late and you owe the bank . Don't fall for this

The other is they want to use paypal. Of course the money will never be in your account.

Here are the numbers so far that have tried this

    947-517-7829
    856-448-4508
    414-367-9712
    731-432-6604
    413-342-0113
    812-202-7766
    925-264-9163

    Don't fall for these scams.

How are they using a scam with paypal? Are they trying to get you to ship before payment is sent?

I'm getting the same crap on my JD z960a mower. Each one that emails me, I forward the address on to craigslist to block. I had 6 or 7 on the mower, at least 5 on the tractor and am getting them left and right on the moving sale. Must be springtime in the southern half of Africa.

Not sure exactly how they're doing it. Once they have access to the account, via email, they may be just robbing the account or they are doing the same certified check scam and by the time anyone finds out, its too late and you have no recourse .

I had one try that and I responded by emailing them back saying once the check cleared, I would be more than happy to ship the item. They tried to convince me to ship beforehand a couple more times and then disappeared. Since then, I just keep reporting them to craigslist.

I always say in person exchange and cash only in my postings. Craigslist is good 98% of the time but you have to be careful sometimes.

Yep sorry to hear...just ignore them or ask them to call you on the phone...they never will.

Here is my latest as I am selling my truck:
    Hi,
You should consider it sold .Actually ,I am buying it for
someone and payment would be through PayPal . I am working in a ship
and presently, i am out to sea.So it is a pick up agent that would be
coming for the pick up.So i would like you to forward your Paypal
email add. and name with more pictures .
I would be expecting your prompt reply, with the name and the
email address on your PayPal account so that i could make the payment
asap and i will appreciate if you could send more pics as i would
not be seeing it in person and pick up should be at a designated
    place or your residence.And, lastly , i am offering additional $ 100
to your final price for you to keep it off from other offers.

These scams are easy to spot. They always have the same basic response. Like its computer generated. They always list the location you typed into the sale add. Does anyone really do that?

The subsequent responses are always in 2 or 3 text. Really, does it take that many?

I didn't get any scammers when I sold my Durango, I mostly got idiots. People wanting to make payments to me, stupid trade offers like horses, a canoe, etc. Finally sold it to a guy with cash in hand.

My uncle listed his pickup on craigslist this spring. A guy from SD offered him 10,000 and a horse for a trade. I thought it was hilarious.

I've never had any problems with CL.

I was supposed to go look at a bike this weekend, and then the guy never got back with me. Kinda pissed me off. Other than that, I've sold probably 100+ items on CL, and never had any type of scam problems.

You have to watch that too. The bank will cash the check, if they don't suspect it's counterfeit. Make sure it clears on the banks end. Then let it be shipped but of course, the bank will never see their money and you are liable.

I don't give any info through CL. I set it up so that it emails me through CL.

I've never sold anything big though, so maybe that is why I don't get any scams. The most expensive thing I have sold was an old fridge for $400.

I think they target $1000 items and up. Just speculation.

I might try email through cl next time.

I've sold cars (big ticket) on there and the only problem I had is lots of low ball offers.
