I'll shoot a coyote any chance I get. The population is out of control here, and after they attacked and left our little dog for dead, I have no use for them. They need to be thinned out big time. A few weeks ago, I was mowing the lawn when I looked out in my field, and say a coyote stalking my dogs. I have a Blue Healer and a Great Dane. That coyote got about 20 yards from them before I started driving the tractor it's way. It still didn't take off running like is should have, it just trotted off. I ran to the house, got the gun, but my dogs had chased it down to the timber by that point. So I got back to mowing, but as soon as I got back on the tractor, I saw that coyote had circled around and was watching the dogs again. I ran back to the house, got the gun and took a shot. My scope was fogged up like crazy from bringing it out of the AC into 95 degree heat, and I just plain missed it.

They are all over around here. After we process our deer, we always put the carcass out and wait :tu:

I always am tempted to take a yote or two down when they cross under my stand, but there is always that fear they'll drop where I shoot em and then there goes my day or weekend, so I usually pass. It's gotten to the point now where it's game on, as that is all I tend to see on my camera.

You can always quickly and quietly as possible get down and at least cover them up maybe?...just a thought...I've been thinking about the same thing too...

I had a yote kill my wife's puppy so I have revenge every chance I get. I keep a .243 in my truck all the time just for that purpose.

I've arrowed 1 and sluged 1 in 13 years of hunting. They are everywhere. They can be tough to draw your bow on. I always try to stick one even if its on the run past my stand. I really hate em.

Perhaps you should start a PETA rally against the yotes.

If this is going to be one of those PETA rallies with naked chicks...let me know.

i've shot a few during shot gun season, but I had one walk near me last year right at dust. I didn't shoot him because of the time frame he walked by at. after a few more hours passed and me not seeing anything, I sure wish I would have let one fly. I have a special arrow for shooting yotes.

I used to have a Bassett Hound named Rosco. He was a mean and tuff SOB around other male dogs. He was raised with two labs, and a boxer. He was very fit for a bassett. anyways, One day my mom was outside with her sissy dog and a coyote started chasing the sissy dog, until Rosco saw it. Rosco not only ran that coyote down, but also killed the thing. Man I miss my dog. RIP, Rosco.
