Anyone out there trap for coyotes in there bowhunting spots? Im thinking about doing it this fall and winter for a little predator control. Lots of them out there and it seems that no one traps anymore. Deep snow and lots of Yotes equals dead deer.

Those are awesome pics Greg, they do not look happy. We used to do it when I was a kid. More than a couple times we would find just a foot in the trap.

How I do it is I chase them off of a cliff, it's deadlier than a trap any day. LOL

My brother trapped them for several years where he hunts. He determined he wasn't getting enough of them and was tired of all the boiling of traps with stinky crap and shumack blossums. He and 6 or 7 guys started hunting them with Walker dogs and snow mobiles. Last winter they got 117. The 3 previous winters they got 110 two years and 111 the third. They pretty much hunt the same woods, every day for about 3 months.... and they haven't slowed the baby machines at all it appears..

    davidmil,

That is unreal!!! Ive tried hunting them but really want to try trapping. It seems like a good way to pass time late fall and into the winter months.

They hunt in the Tug Hill area of New York, foothills to the Adirondacks. They cover some ground.... but really not a large area. They concentrate on the area between Booneville, NY and Lowville. But really, it's the same deal everyday. Not many days off when the snow is deep enough to run the machines. It's a mix of broken farm land and some nasty alder swamps etc.
