If you know where the den it just wait outside it and get them when they enter or exit. If you got a month before season you should be fine. 17hmr will work nice. Good luck keep us posted. Sent from my iPad using Bowhunting.com Forums
No but I'm not wanting to lose a $30 arrow (arrow, lighted nock, and broadhead). Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I would just to play it safe. You could also get some cheaper arrows to minimize the risk of lost or broken arrows even more. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Should I use an older broadhead rather than my new ones that are used for deer? Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Let us know how your night bow hunting for coyotes goes. Nothing like sitting in your stand at night this time of year when deer are most active. Hope you don't over hunt your stands before the season even starts in hopes of arrowing a coyote in the dark.
I haven't in the last couple years but usually on Feb 1st I start coyote hunting. This method is more dual purpose varmint control/recreation. If you really want to put a dent in them then trapping is the way to go. Problem with that is it costs a little money to get going and like anything, time to master the techniques. You also have to run your trap lines frequently (every day or at least every other). No sense in trapping an animal to let starve to death. No better time to start than the present though. Start watching trapping videos and reading. There is content all over YouTube. It is actually a blast! Good luck. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Thanks everyone for the thoughts and ideas. I have thought of all of them and have made my decision. I have decided to wait until season starts. If one walks by, I will shoot it with a less expensive arrow (that I'll buy). I'll keep you all updated! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Grab a rifle, or shotgun depending on the terrain. Buy a couple of cheap mouth calls and go after them just like you would a deer. Mind the wind and be as scent free as possible. One or two calling stands won't bother your deer that much. If you know the coyotes are there the deer already know you have been there as well. If legal kill them now while they are together. Taking them out during bow season is always at the top of my list! Good luck Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
I just go out with my Ar and blast as many as I can. The deer don't seem to mind I just stop a month ahead of time
