Hey guys, just a quick question. We pulled this off the trailcam a couple days ago and I wanted a second opinion on this. We do have coyotes in central MD, however they are fairly rare. Much more common is the red-tailed fox. Its hard to tell color and size being at night and with nothing to compare it to, but was hoping for some insight from you guys with more coyote experience.

That's a yote fer sure. The population in MD is more than you might think. Just don't have a lot of run-ins with them during daylight hours.

Thanks for the confirmation. As I said before I just had a hard time deciding not having anything to compare it to for size.

Forkie I'm sure there are a ton around. We had seen a couple while fishing late at night in College (Frostburg) out west, but I haven't seen much activity around here.

Might be local to your area. I've been surprised several times at the relatively small patches of woods we have close to my house that have them.

There's a bunch living right off Interstate 81 around the 9 mile marker. Pretty built-up area, but relatively few interactions with people.

I did some turkey hunting at Green Ridge this year and couldn't believe the yote scat in several spots. Looked like they were eating well.

Yep, it's a yote. Ears are way too big for a fox, and its coloration/markings are all wrong as well for either a Gray OR a Red...

At least it answers the age-old question: Does a coyote poop in the field?
