I'm going to hit the woods with a few calls and try to thin out the pack. Anyone having any luck yet?

What ranges are you guys shooting at? Do you use range finders for greater distances or just guesstimate yardage? I'm assuming you're using rifles and not bows of course. Eventually I'd like to try when I get my AR built, wondering what other than a scope and some sort of call I might need. The land I'd hunt has minimal areas where I could go greater than 100yds on a shot.

Actually it all depends on my mood and the givin set up. I often do hunt em with my bow. Otherwise its AR for the longer pokes and I carry the ulti-mag with buck for anything under 50yds. Other than that ya really dont need anything but some camo and the yotes to play along, I've called em in with a good number of different types of calls.

I usually take my 270 and have someone else carry a shotgun. Most of my shots with the rifle are within 100 yards. I'd like to get a smaller caliber rifle for yotes, but its not a big priority at the moment.

Did a few sets last weekend with no luck, a few more the next few days then hit it hard this weekend. With the full moon get to do some night hunting! I just picked up a .243, looking to break it in right. Best of luck all!

I love going coyote hunting! Wish it would snow! That would give me some more motivation to get out there!

At least you can still find ammo for the .270. I'm thinking about taking my .223 out here soon but I'm getting low on ammo.

Picked up a Remington 700 varmint with 3x9x40 bushnell on it. Chambered in 22-250 with 26" bull barrel, synthetic stock, and x mark trigger. Have yet to test it on a yote as I just got her dialed in last weekend. I did take this with my 30-06 last week, he fell victim to my fox pro spitfire using the lightning jack call. Somehow the bullet didn't pass all the way through and just demolished the near shoulder. He'll be a full body mount stalking a pheasant in 7-9 months. I will be heading out next weekend with the .22-250. I hope I am able to kill at least 6 this year to thin them out a little.

So what's everyone's record for coyotes in a single hunt? Never hunted them specifically but have two in the bag with the bow, should have had two 5 minutes apart. Had 3 come in and the one I shot dropped in its track, 2nd one kept coming in not knowing what happened. Got drawn back but it just didn't offer up the shot.

Do you guys sit all day or treat it like deer hunting? Hunt the same general area the whole time, treestand or blind yadda yadda yadda. Would love to get out a time or two before spring, either be the shotgun or .22.

I setup with a foxpro, no blind, just propped against something to break up my outline, I usually call 10-15 minutes in a location and move on. If they're in the area and hear the foxpro they usually come in within 3-7 minutes. I hunt my way in, meaning I have designated spots on the ranch where I hunt. So I setup and call closest to furthest and then work my way back.
