With 24hr yote hunting around the corner what are your guys thoughts on sitting in my deer stand calling in yotes? before deer season we were out in a bean field calling in yotes and it didnt seem to bother the deer at all we had the thing screamin and they just kept walking through the field eating. Any thoughts would be great trying to decide if I should call around my stands during season.

Nope. Not a good idea! In Illinois it is illegal to take a fur bearing animal from an elevated position. (Such as a stand).

taken strait from the dnr website,

 It is legal to hunt coyotes while using or
    possessing a tree climbing device.

    Since when?

Edit: I see it now, it does not include coyotes though. Perfectly legal. I must admit, I never knew you couldn't shoot a coon, possum, etc from a stand. Bummer

A buddy of mine at the DNR said they started that because of people using "yote" hunting as an excuse to use a rifle while in a stand. I've been told taking one with a bow is not considered illegal but it is also why yote season is closed during shotgun season.

It's not illegal though, with bow or gun. Not sure what your buddy is referring to?
You can also shoot them with the shotgun during season as long as you're deer hunting.

Sad to say I have shot more coyotes during deer season than I have deer. By all means shoot them and good luck!

    right from rules and regulations:

    Year round (Statewide)
    Coyote and Striped Skunk

Coyote and Striped Skunk Closed Nov. 22-23 and through 6 p.m. Nov. 24 and closed Dec. 5-7

and through 6 p.m. Dec. 8 in counties open for firearm deer huntinge open 24 hours Nov. 10,

Now I do not shotgun hunt but I am pretty certain those dates fall during shotgun deer season.

That is just saying, don't bring your coyote rifle out to coyote during those dates. You can go deer hunting and take the coyote with your shotgun.

You can bow hunt for coyote year round other than the shotgun season and you can use a stand.

Reason behind my madness is one of the properties I hunt is only 8 acres the neighboring property is about 200-300 acres all tall switch grass swamp and cat tails and is loaded with yotes they come over the creek in the evening to feed we have taken a few but would like to eliminate more so my thoughts were to fill the stands on the property and call them in and let them have it

Check the "coyote hunting" section p.30:
(Exceptions for slugs exist during the firearm deer seasons when coyote hunting is closed except to deer hunters with un- filled firearm deer permits in their possession).

To the OP, I wouldn't call for coyotes while deer hunting, but that's me.

You won't be able to get rid of a significant number of yotes by strictly hunting them. When trapping season starts that's when you'll eliminate more of them.

LOL you put a chicken out tied to a string with corn just out of reach you will get coyotes all night they will run right in even after shots are fired. What I was wondering was if it would cause the deer to move out but I guess it really is no different then when there heavy on the property already. I guess we will kill some and let the property sit for a few days before deer hunting again. Maybe I will do it the night before shotgun season
