Well, here in eastern Wa, the early bow season is drawing to a close, the dove season is almost done, and we still have another month before we can shoot up some ducks. What to do? I'll tell ya, I have been seeing more coyote than deer in my last few outings, and I thought it would be fun to try and get a 'yote into bow range. (don't we all?) Being so early in the coyote season, I thought I should bring a friend along with a rifle just in case. We walked away from the truck, set up along the most gorgeous piece of coyote country EVER, and started to wail on a call. Only 15 minutes go by before I look up and see a sage dog running at full bore right to us! I whisper to my buddy telling him that if the dog hangs up, he needs to drop it. So just as the dog starts to get into the close range calling area, my friends phone starts ringing... (His girlfriend wanted him to remeber to bring her sweatshirt back to her house when we got back!) Girls are useless... anyway, the 'yote hits the skids and starts his frantic run back to wherever he came from, and I was laughing hysterically at my buddy still trying to shut up his phone. It was a fail in the aspect of actually shooting a yote, but way to much fun to keep me from doing it again tomorrow... I wish a best of luck to all of you who intend to shoot a coyote with a bow this year, you will need it! I just can't wait for winter!!! Connor H
