Got in the stand a bit earlier than I would've liked, but I thought that would mean even more time for the woods to settle down before shooting light. I have cows in my woods. Big, loud, dumb cows. Usually they are only a nuisance but today they really drove me nuts. After 2 hours of moos, broken limbs and sounds of pooping I couldn't take it anymore. I'm an easy going guy and don't get fired up easily but I lost it. I made eye contact with one and started non verbally threatening to murder it. I was waving my hands and air-punching it's face, after it finished chewing what was in its mouth it decided to go back to grazing. I then yelled very loudly at it twice and gave one last scream to voice my frustration. I got down from my stand and walked back to the truck. 100 yards away I spooked 2 deer and watched as their white tails went frolicking through the timber. G-DANG IT! Then I said a 4 letter word and made my walk of shame to the vehicle. The big man upstairs gave me a lesson in patience and hopefully my lousy luck will help some of you when you find yourself in a similar situation.

Hope my first post is amusing and helpful.

LOL cows will do that to ya. I usually try to cake mine on the opposite side of the pasture I hunt which has worked well but since we pulled the calves off them they are kind of looking all over for their babies and making lots of noise searching for them.

I carry a small pocket slingshot for red and gray squirrels, that want to blow my cover on a daily bases and works very well.

I was in the woods with handsome man this morning, about 120 yds uphill, and let me tell he was really REALLY angry!!! Have any of you witnessed (on a few occasions) deer mingling with cows????

I've noticed that Deer and not spooked by Cows, around here anyways. If you can put up with them, you still have just as good a chance to bag a nice one, as you do without any around. Heck, they might even mask your smell and sounds :tu::tu:

I'm no expert but would not think deer would get spooked by cows as they are not a threat to them.

I heard that if you step in cow $h1t and walk to your stand you won't leave behind any "human" smell .. Sounds about right, never tried it though since I don't hunt around pastures.

When we had cow deer would regularly feed with them but if there was 1 horse in the field deer would not come out.

    Strange

Where the cows aren't??? Not possible! Unless your cattle are like trained dogs and stay put, don't see how they would never come through. There's plenty of acres on this land to not see the 20+ cattle that roam it. But I'd say 7/10 he has these cows coming barreling through...
