They may well win the game, today. That's not the issue (no preference on who wins this game). What in the world is going on wiht them, though? The penalties are just stupid; uncalled for; etc... . To me (I'm a casual fan), this is a reflection of poor coaching. The Unsports. cond. penalty is inexcusable (considering the one they got, just last week). What's up with all the penalties? They just got their 5th with 9:34 to go in the 2nd. One - negated a TD. Have they always been this penatly-ridden?
I think sometimes you get so loaded with talent that you do not have those middle men (less than great athletes, but great players) that carry teams and always do the right thing. I always think of the yankees when they were keeping the braves from winning multiple championships...yeah they had jeter, rivera etc...but the also had oniel, leyritz and the likes of those guys too. I watch Romo, hear all the praise and knocks etc...but what I never see is the QB of "Americas Team" get in someones face and take this team over. That means the playcallers as well. He is just happy to be dating models and getting paid IMHO.
Its all about "LEADERSHIP". The Cowboys have none!!!! Watch the head coach, any body can just stand on the side line. Romo, michaelp is right, he never takes it upon himself to show leadership. Just watch him in 2min. drills. He's more nervous than a kid on his first big buck hunt. Any great coach will tell you that they would rather have a team that plays with HEART than just a bunch of self proclaimed talented players.
They were going for the highlight reel here for sure. If this play was successful, it would have been the first highlight on every sports show in America for the next week. Although I'm glad it wasn't...
I agree it isn't Romo... These are professional athletes... He or no one else should have to get into another mans face to get them to do their job.
I just read that the cowboys are the highest paid team in the NFL, I never realized that. There's some added pressure to win some games for sure.
I don't know what the heck it is! There is just zero chemistry on that entire team. There is no leader(s). All the great teams seemed to have a player or players that just stood out and stepped up. Peyton manning, Brady, Ray Lewis, Aikman/Smith/Irving, Bradshaw/Harris, Montan/Rice, Singeltary, Favre (i just threw up a little), etc..... There just isn't that guy(s) on this team. Probably equal or more talent than a lot of the teams and players mentioned. They just don't get it done.
High level sports run such a fine line between winning and losing. For some reason the Cowboys do not have the formula to be a winning team thus far. They are missing "something" that adds up to a loss. It is within the coaches and players to right the ship.
Yes, although it shouldn't. I just looked it up and am surprised that Oakland and Cleveland are up there too. It's actually kind of relieving knowing that money don't necessarily buy you success in the NFL. And no, that wasn't a shot at the yankees, and neither was that...
