Looks like the first camera (2012) is in the woods, which allows more back drop for the IR flash to bounce off. 2013's look like they are in a field.
I don't run any MP6 and these are from my neighbor. I never realized the cameras were woods vs. field edge. Make sense. I think I'm still gonna pick up a 2012 Red 40 as the people who have it like that one a lot.
Battery type, battery life remaining and temp will also play a factor in how bright the flash is. A new set of Lithiums is going to perform a lot better than a set of half used alkalines in 30 degree temps.
