So i bought 2 covert red 40 cameras due to the great reviews. Was I disappointed. Put them out for a couple weeks and they were taking pictures but on 1 there were a lot of black photos. Must have been with the shutter. So i reset the setting and formatted the sd card again which is new and the camera didn't work at all this time. The other camera put it out for 2 weeks went and checked it and sd card was full. Was pumped but when I checked the camera all it was were blank photos non-stop. So I thought that it was maybe something moving in front of the camera so I moved it and put another camera below it to test it out. The camera below had 300 pics of deer and the covert didn't take any photos. I have 11 cameras out at all times and these Coverts have been unreliable.

I haven't dealt with them but a lot of people on here have and they rave about the customer service. Give them a call I'm sure they will take care of any issues.

Don't get me wrong, good customer service is essential, but the fact that so many of you covert owners have had to send your cameras back in is quite disturbing. I'm not trying to drive 5 hours to the hunting land only to find out my cameras didnt work one of the first few times having it in the field.... thats a perfect ingredient for a freak out lol

I have to drive a ways every time I check my cameras aswell. It is frustrating. This year i made it a goal not to check my cameras very often, my other cameras I have checked only once, but since the coverts are not working properly I have had to make extra trips to make sure they are working and they haven't been.

I can completely understand your frustration. I've got 5 Red 40's running right now and they are 6 1/2 hours away. If I had the problems I'd be wondering the same. The only thing I can say for me is that is definitely not something I have encountered yet but when I have had any issues with the cameras at all they have bent over backwards to make things right for me. Contact them off of their camera support page and let them know:

Did you do the latest firmware update from the Covert website? It should fix these problems.

I have 2 covert MP6 cameras and have never had a problem. Having said that, people need to understand that trail cameras are cheap electronics made in China. The industry kind of has us by the balls because trail cams are such an asset to help us manage our deer population and the companies out there know that were are going to buy. I personally think that the trail cam industry as a whole is a big rip off. As a a law enforcement officer, I sometimes work in undercover drug enforcement. We use a lot of hidden cameras and most of them are just like trail cams. They are finicky, overpriced and you guessed it, made in China. You may buy several of the same models and have some work good and the others crap out. The flip side to this is, US made cameras like the Reconyx, would cost way to much to manufacture and would probably run no less than $250 per cameras if we had more US manufacturers. Just my 2 cents.

What brand SD Cards are you using and have you tried different cards in the cam?
