Told ya battery life is good in the cold. Proof right there. Wisconsin got some sub zero temps for a while there and the guy had his cam out since august. My m80 I have been through 4 sets(8) of batteries.
Good to hear! We have had some cold stretches here this winter so far in Maine and it KILLS the batteries in my trophy cams.. How's the sensitivity when it's cold? That's another issue I'm having is even on low sensitivity when it's cold the cameras I have now are taking wind pictures constantly. And by constantly I mean taking pics every time it resets no matter if there is anything there to set it off or not...
I have heard of the bushnells(was a particular model, but not sure which) that were developing the run-on pics syndrome for no apparent reason(even put into a closet with the door closed as one guy did to test it out). Other than that, the coverts I have had and couple I do have are basically the same as any other good camera for wind caused pics...often the actual cause that is over looked is the tree the camera is on is moving and this has set my cameras, both homebrews and commercials, to taking pics when nothing is there. The stronger the wind, higher in the tree and the narrower the trunk the more the camera moves....the difference of shadow and light reflecting is enough to register the change in temp on the pir and trigger a pic as those shade and light borders move across the fresnel zones. SO after all that I think you'll be happy with the newer coverts...I have also had good luck with my spypoint IR5s in extreme cold temps, but Covert C.S. is awesome and they are in the U.S. so if you have a problem, then shipping cost and the time spent waiting for a fix or replacement means I would go with Covert if I ever purchase a commercial camera again(btw mms/wireless and blackflash options say I prob'ly will for security purposes).
