I did some research on some of the covert cams because there are a lot of people on here that use them. Does anyone here use the ones that supposedly text you the pictures on your smart phone if so how good does it work and how much of a delay does it have before you actually get the pic from the time it took it. Do you need to have good cell service where you set the camera up at?

I've got the code black and the pic comes in right at one minute from the time it takes the pic to the time I get the message. I'm getting 4 bars on the cam but have heard that people with fringe service can boost up to two bars using the new booster antenna. Not sure what the minimum is for receiving pics by text.

Can you turn the service off while you are not using the camera?

I am running a couple but my opinion would be to wait until April for the 2014 3G model

The plan is prepaid for 30 days so if you want the camera to text you pics that month you pay if not you dont pay

Sounds pretty neat now you don't have to go in and stink the place up.

what do you mean its prepaid? does this mean it comes with the sim card already and a free month. like the new bushnells are doing? is there a website or a app for it too? i was considering the bushnell for this spring just cause its simpler. but if coverts doing the same im sold.

*To purchase the correct SIM card and plan for your Code Black*

To have your Code Black send pictures to your cell phone or email address, you will need to get a standard size SIM card from either AT&T(AT&T retail store or Wal-Mart*) Tmobile, Rogers (CA), or any GSM network that provides a SIM card. The SIM card must be set up with the proper plan in order to work so follow the instructions below.

If Purchasing from an AT&T Store:

Ask for the "10¢ a minute" plan with texting only for your SIM card.
There will be two options, $10 per month for 1,000 texts monthly or $20 per month for unlimited monthly texts.
Make sure the store associate selects "auto-renewal" to the texting portion.
Note: The voice minutes are never used and do not affect the per month costs.
You will not be required to sign a contract for the pre paid plan. You will pre pay for the amount you wish and can stop at any time.
    For Pre-Existing AT&T Customers

If you are a current user of ATT and have texting on your current plan, you can then add a line to your already existing plan. This does require a contract. There is no data plan required

The SIM card does not come with the camera at this time.

My wife purchased a code black special ops for me at Christmas. Haven't had it out yet though. I wouldn't tell her this but I wish she would have waited until the 3G version came out.

I have one and love it. It does seem like trigger is a little slow on it or 30 ft is to far. Reason I say that is first pic that u get when deer come to feeder the deer are already at the feeder. I think the very first pic would be only head. View is a little wide on all coverts. I have one of every model. image.jpg this pic is a texted pic.

I tweek my Code Blacks since they only send the first picture. I cover about 3/16/1/4 of an inch of each side of the sensor with electrical tape to assure the pic sent has the critter dead center.

The plan is $10 a month for 1000 pics (per cam) With the $ of gas now days the cams and plans pay for themselves fairly quickly.

i wasn't ever considering these until this statement. It costs me about 2/3 a tank of gas if I go down to our big property (where my cams are). That's 30-40 bucks in gas per trip. And there for a little while I would go twice a month. Gas costs even more if I pull my 4wheeler with me. These might save me some money in the long run. especially in the summer.

Im gonna buy one of the referbs in the summer if they still have some. If not Ill try and save up for the newer ones, but they are super expensive (justified Im sure, Im just not loaded like that). The idea is something I love and have been wanting one since I heard of the idea years ago. The $10-20 a month is worth it to me personally, like Pat says in many cases I could use that in gas just to check my cams. And would make it so much easier to leave an area alone and let a camera soak in the spot. Im only not ordering them now because Im not paying $10 a month for bald head pics.
