Personally, I use DDW (dead down wind) for laundry soap and for field spray down when going out. You'll never fully cover human scent up but giving it a shot doesn't hurt the chances at all. Be smart and hunt the wind
wash all clothes in scent killer gold. spray down with scent killer gold when arriving at my hunting spot. use hunter specialties fresh earth scent wafers pinned to my hat. and I rub my rubber boots down with ever calm deer hear scent.
Wash clothes in unscented laundry soap, myself in unscented shower gel, spray with scent killer gold, then Lucky 7 Premium Cover Scent
I rub myself down with pine needles before I take the wife out on a date. 60% of the time... works every time.
I use dead down wind products to try to eliminate scent but use ever calm as a cover scent. Have had many deer follow trail made on way in to stand. Makes them extremely curious yet calm. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
yeah, I use ozone too. But then I spray myself down with ddw once I get out of my vehicle and once again when I get to my stand (if I worked up a bit of a sweat). That system has yet to fail me - at least as far as I have observed in deer that have come down wind of me.
Nothing. Wind. Once you go elk hunting for a week and still get close to elk. You kind of realize. Its the wind.
I've been using DDW products for scent "elimination" and was surprised how many deer have walked down wind from me with no issues. I use laundry detergent and dryer sheets, then store all my gear in a good tote with earth scent wafers until I get to the field where I change out there. I shower with scent killer soap and shampoo and put on sweat pants/shirt that have been washed in scent killer detergent for the trip to the stand. Once I'm dressed next to my truck, I spray everything down with DDW scent spray and sometimes (not everytime) I'll use a scent killer wipe on my equipment. I'm looking into trying some Ever Calm or the Code Blue Comfort Zone on my next trip out. I'm interested to see how many people have had good luck with the ever calm.
I have had nothing but good luck with evercalm. Many deer acting very curious. Stick form works great to just smear on stuff and lasts forever. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
My thought would be to put it on my boots with the stick before I walk in. I've heard it can leave a white film though. Any experience with that?
Definitely leaves a white residue. Scrape it on soles of boots to avoid staining. Works great to mark yardages because white spot is visible all season. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I was just at the local sporting goods store and picked up the Code Blue version of Ever Calm. I'll try to remember to come back and let everyone know how it works. I probably should have went with the Ever Calm but I recently picked up some other Code Blue products and they are a little less expensive.
Something else I found really works well in early season is bob Kirschners curiosity lure and also trailmaker. Not sure if available everywhere or just local to PA. lancaster archery has carried it for probably 20 years Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Probably catch some fuss about this, but here it goes. So the ol' lady uses that essential oils and has a cedar wood scent. What are the opinions of "smoking" gear with it. It smells just like cedar and seems like it would blend well with "nature". I'm debating hanging clothes in the bathroom and letting it go in a small closed space, but I'm hesitant adding stink to anything. Although it smells like cedar to me, it still smells, so..... thoughts?
Seems pretty risky to me. I would probably try it on an older set of hunting clothes first and test it out on a lower impact area where you may encounter smaller bucks and does, and see how it goes.
