I want to know what the purpose of the STS is. I currently have a bowrattler on my assasin. I have seen a post where the person was using a Limbsaver string deccelarator which is the same as the bowrattler, correct? He goes on to say that with the string deccelarator you don't need string leeches, or silencers because the deccelator's job is to stop string occillations which cause noise. Is this true? If so then I can remove the factory string silencers bowtech put on which causes a loss in speed and the bow should still be quiet? Im looking to get a few extra FPS.
It's true. look at the bow that come factory with string stoppers none that i have seen also come with silencers. they do have cable silencers but no string silences
Can I ask why your expecting to get more speed out of removing those factory silencers? The trade off in noise and vibration alone isn't worth it IMO. 333 IBO isn't too slow to begin with. How many grains does your arrow weigh?
With my draw length I'm not close to 333 IBO. I don't have a chrono so I could only guess with my setup I'm around 265 fps. My hunting arrow is a ICS hunter, 400 spine, 125 grain BH, total weight is 390 grains.
I think you're shooting a bit faster than you think you are anyway. you have the same draw length as me n your bow has a higher IBO. my arrows come in @ 508 grains @ 70 # I chronod mine @ 261 fps
Let me add something to that. If you're set on gaining some fps. take those silencers off and then remove the factory center serving and reserve it as short as possible ( I reserved mine just long enough to get a nock point and the smallest tourqe-less loop as i could make and still get my release on it, and use a light weight peep. that'd be worth it imho. Should still be plenty quiet, if you want it quieter use a heavier arrow. true you'll lose those extra fps but you'll have gained energy and silence.
Thanks, I'll have to get in chronoed. I used an online speed calulator and got an estimate of 267. Those bowtech silencers got to be atleast 10-12 grains a piece.
