Like many of you know either from here or my site/blog, I'm a big advocate for small plots. Here's a picture of the brand new one this year...gotta love breaking virgin ground! Can't see it that well in the pic but surrounding edges have been hinged (not enough though...may do a touch more) and a few trees girdled to let light in. This plot right now has sunflowers, buckwheat and oats in it. This plot has some willows, elms and white pines planted around it's edges as well. We realize this year it's not gonna get grown up and as thick as we like on the edges...however give it one year and some hinge cutting next winter and this thing will get ridiculously thick. This is just the Western edge of the 2nd new plot (sorry no full plot pictures). You can see what just a little hand saw hinging can do to shut down entrances where you don't want them. This plot too has hinging and girdling all the way around it as well as young willows, pines and elms planted. I'll take some better pictures this weekend probably and get them up on the site/blog and here too probably. Just remember fellas, what we're doing know makes the difference as to what we're seeing in the fall. Whether that be finding and gaining permission for new places to hunt, habitat improving the ones we do have, tuning our equipment and perfecting our food plot approaches. Good luck out there fellas! Neither of these plots will be hunted over like some do, however we'll be about 70 to 80 yards to their West in one stand option along the trails that we've cut towards them both.
