If you see deer 250-300 yards away while on stand, are they logged as deer sightings? If not, what is the breaking point?

If you set up 1 hour before shooting light, do you log that 1 hour on stand?

Obviously, no right or wrong answers, jsut curious what other people do and how it effects your data/analysis.

I cant see that far here, so not an issue...

If i SEE the deer, it gets logged. If i just hear it, doesnt count.

If I could see a deer that far I would log it in along with it's location.

I log any deer I see. Even 1/4 mile.

Like was mentioned above, the location is very important, and it too is logged.

    My log includes:
Date, AM/PM. Temp, Wind, Weather, Location, Doe Sighting, Buck Sighting, Comments, Total Time.

If I see it, I log it. Huntable hours count, but if I SEE deer at any point, they get logged and I may comment that I saw particular deer late or early.

Similar to Ben's, I log date, time in stand (start/stop), wind direction, temp, deer sightings (Buck/Doe), and general comments. I only log deer sightings in stand, no matter how far away (noting their movement, and when they came into sight). It can all be important information.
