I was watching a show on the outdoors channel today and saw someone shoot a deer and they had a lumenok or whatever other brand of ones they make and they shot a deer with it. I was just thinking that could this scare a deer? What I mean by that is making it more of a chance for them to "jump your string" having a bright light come flying at them. was wondering what anyone thought? I have used one before and didn't have any trouble....but i still didn't find my arrow, so i was out about 30 bucks on that one.

No. First of all, it wouldn't anyway, secondly they can't see it. Remember, the deer is in FRONT of the arrow, the nock is behind. They can't even see it. I've shot deer with lighted nocks, my buddies have shot deer w/ lighted nocks.......COUNTLESS TV hosts have shot deer w/ lighted nocks.......They might jump the string but they don't even see the nock.

True but I don't think I'd jump on the solid NO bandwagon. I'd imagine if a deer is looking dead at ya. The speed of light is faster than the speed of sound so I suppose they could react to the sight of the nock going off BUT.....

Is the light actually lighting before the sound of the bow? HHHmmmm, hellivino!

One thing is certain, we will never, never know. :d The deer I shot using the Tracer Nock didn't last too long to answer me. :d

I think I'm pretty safe jumping on the solid no bandwagon on this one. You're correct though, we will never, never know......for certain.

I think that you would be able to somewhat see the light, but I dont know, ive never been in front of the guy shooting. Ill have to see if you can see it if your in front. But ROB did make a good point that the speed of light is faster than the speed of sound so technically the light should be on before the sound of the bow giving them that split second more of reaction time......

Here's my take... have you ever seen a deer in woods where fire flies are everywhere? I have, and they don't do ANYTHING. I honeslty don't think that a deer is going to react to a lighted nock any more than they are giant white wrap with chartreuse fletchings... do you?

    I'm on the "no" bandwagon.

I would say no. Even if they did, they would be jumping the sound of the string at the same time.

Could the glare of metal on your tree stand scare a deer?

Yeah Dubbya, but the fireflies are flying after the deer in a rabid manner!!!! :d

I think the sound of the bow going off is enough to spook them, they don't need to see a "Lighted Nock" as additional "spooking." Even the quietest of bow makes enough sound that those animals with hearing many times better than ours WILL hear it.

I don't know about you guys but it's very rare that a deer is looking at me during the shot. I would think that's the only way they could notice the luminock in time to react?

A calm deer is not going to jump your string if you have a lighted nock. lol If a deer jumps your string it is because he is alert and out far enough to do so. Give me a deer at 10 yards with him looking at me and see if he jumps the string. No way!!!

That's just It Rob, no one will ever know. I'll say this though that It could be possible for them to see that nock. Just because the nock Is In back of the arrow don't mean squat, arrows bend and flex when there shot. All In all though I highly doubt It that It scares them, the noise of the bow releasing scares them more.
