I'm new to compound bows and planning on getting a new bow this weekend and probably will order it on line due to most stores that sell them being quite a distance from me. I want to know how to tell them to set my correct draw length. I have been given a couple different answers and just need some newbie advice. All is appreciated, thanks in advance.

What I learned to do is measure your arm span and divide it by 2.5. After doing so you should have a rough idea on what you need and I would suggest putting on your release and try drawing a few lengths within that range. Most people fall within the 28"-29" draw length but if you are taller or shorter than the average height or have long/short arms you may need to add or take off a half inch. This is just what I learned and by no means concrete.

What kinda bow you buying? Some Brands you can adjust without having to buy new cams or mods.

If i'm not mistaken I think those have the adjustable modules. So you can play with it to get it exactly where you want it.

Thanks, I've got a slim build and probably measure out at 27.6 inches according to Spear's technique

you'll know when you draw the bow back. there's all kinds of ways to tell like where your elbow is, (up, down, behind your head, chicken winging it in front, etc)

ultimately though, i suppose it don't matter so long as you don't hurt yourself smacking your forearm and you're consistent/accurate/precise

If the formula comes to 27.6 go with 27 to start with. That will account for a d loop and such if you use one and a little shorter is better than a little longer. Good luck and keep us posted.

Thanks everyone for all your help, the bow has been ordered and should be here by next Wednesday. I'm looking forward to having some fun with my new hobby or outdoor adventures.
