We have lots of really good corners at our farm. Inside corners and outside corners. I normally try to have my scent blow out into the field - away from where the deer will be coming. I'm not 100% sold on this, but it's just tough. Deer can come from every direction at these spots. What do ya'll do?!
Only hunt the inside corners. Buck like to work very close to the corner, just inside the timber. I like to have the wind blowing out into the field and hunt high if possible, 20 feet plus. I like to hunt about 10 yards back in from the edge of the timber. Also during the start of the rut the bucks will work these inside corners running from field to field to check for does.
The stand I have had my best luck at our farm is an inside corner of a large ag field. I'm setup just a few yards inside the woods. I ONLY hunt this spot with a wind out of the N or NW, which blows my scent out in the field. This stand sets next to some of the nastiest cover in our area, so a lot of deer bed close to here. Most of the bucks I see, actually cut the corner and and cross the field by using a small depression in the field. My best hunts from this spot have came with a doe decoy out in front of me from the end of October all the way up until the 3rd week of November.
