We gambled this year by disking under the beans from last year. We had a very mild winter with minimal snow fall. Needless to say the deer didn't hammer the soybeans very much at all. So, this spring we decided to disk them under instead of planting again. We did this in mid April, I know, very early for beans in this part of the country. Well, our gamble paid off. We haven't had measurable rain since the end of May. Since that time it has been HOT. Thankfully with very little wind. The crops held up very well all things considered. Here are some pic's of the corn/bean plot. We sprayed the corn with generic round-up/atrazine and sprayed the beans with just generic round-up.
Good observation!! We peeked around the end of the corn last night to see a doe feeding on the beans at the far west end. We are at the east end taking the pic. I remember that you said "have bow will travel".
How long ago did you plant the beans? I planted mine at he end of April and they don't look quite that good and we have had lots of rain.
Remember fp is in Missouri. Just a little bit different weather than in Wisconsin. (careful, 'cause ol' fp is going to get a swollen head thinking that his beans are the best in the world because he's done such a great job polishing and planting each seed by hand!)
I didn't realize anyone was actually taking that bs I was putting out seriously. I just had one of those there epiphanies...I think.
Between you and elkguide the bs is a never ending stream. I found someone that was trying to be nice, now you're going to steal my thunder.............................
They look really good. I hope mine turn out like yours but I don't have quite as much planted to we shall see I guess.
OK. So now that your head is beginning to come down from being so swollen from compliments................ Where are all of the trail cam pictures with all of hose well fed monsters on them?
