If you look at Sling TV's list they have a lot of the more popular channels. And then you can add on more channels as you want with packages.
So, what I'm seeing here, is you can watch ESPN, and a ton of other channels, just like you do with cable? So, the walking dead next Sunday will be on at 8 like normal?
Yes. With sling tv You are watching the channels the same as it is on cable. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
This is amazing. And they've only been around a few months, and have gotten some of the better TV channels. Now, I just need to know. What's better? Roku or Amazon? My wife is in college, so prime is only 49.99 a year, so I was leaning toward that, but the roku has a long track record.
I have shows that I watch but they're moreso just a time killer. Sports is about all I really care about, which I can get. Everything she watches could be found online but teaching her which one to go to for which shows and how to operate the TV is what would be the big learning curve. We'll see, I hope all media ends up online anyway.
I could Cut the Cord..... I would have lots of time for Outdoors activities then. Of course after my wife got through with me I would have another bill.... Alimony.... so i guess I'm keeping cable it's cheaper LOL!!!
I don't know what is better Roku or Amazon. I only have a Roku and it is probably over 2 years old so I'm behind on all the new stuff out for streaming boxes.
Bumping this thread...cutting the Satellite chord this week... For those who have done this....any updates???
What kind of update...we're still alive? How tall are the piles of dough now that we're not paying cable/satellite bills? :sarcasm: Get the best speed Internet that meets your needs. Pick a device (Roku, Fire, Apple, Roku ). If you like local channels get an antenna. Live sports you may have to work a bit harder (add sling, find rogue channels/apps for your device) if it's not covered on a local channel.
I dropped Comcast and Direct TV. All new TV's come with a built in digital antena coverter. So I have the 1970's old school antena and I get about 17-21 channels in central, IL. Saturday's I am getting 4-6 college football games for free, Sunday have all the NFL games you would get without the Sunday Ticket. We have Amazon Prime ($99/year) and we use it a lot, literally half a million shows/movies on Prime for that price. We bought two Amazon FireStick's and it turns your TV into and android device so you add apps. We added the ESPN App and Netflix. The Sticks we between $19 and $39 depending on the Amazon sales. Sling TV will sometimes give you a Stick if you purchase Sling TV. We pirate Netfix ($7/month) and it is both on our Vizeo TV and an App the Amazon Fire Sticks. Sling TV is $19.99 but if you get the sports package it is a $5 add-on, so $24.99. Sling gives you: ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNnews, SEC, ESPNU, ESPN Goalline, ESPN Buzzer beaters, ESPN Basesloaded, Universal Sports, BEin Sports, TNT, TBS, ESPN Deportes, and Univision Deportes.....so lots of options and some on-demand. Other channelsther channels not on the antena...TBS, TNT, AMC, HGTV, Food network, Cartoon Network, Lifetime, Disney JR. and CNN. It also has some type of movie channel? EPIX??? Not bad for $24.99 nice with no comcast or direct tv....much savings!
also, Amazon Prime has some great shows that are only on amazon and you get free shipping, so why not spend the $99/year?
I subscribed to SlingTV so I could watch the Cardinals (short) post season. Don't bother until they improve their interface. It's quite terrible. It was hard to get the feed for the game (Not sure if too many people were watching) PC and phone APP crashed alot. I cancelled.
The idea is great if it works for you. I just didn't have good results and don't really have the need anymore. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
