So what do you use out of your rifle? What kind of bullet (brand) do you shoot?

Have 150grn Swift Scirocco's loaded in my 7mm REM. A-frame designed bullet. Although, I will likely switch over to a Barnes TSX soon. 100% weight retention and no lead is hard to beat.

I have a Savage Model 14 in a .300 WSM.... I use Federal Vital-Shok, Barnes Triple-Shock X, 165 Grain, Lead Free...this Barnes bullet flat out drops em! The only problem is the Barnes bullet might be hard to come by here soon in a Federal Ammo.

The reason I bring it up is I've shot core-lokt for years and they work. But lead in the venison is something I'm more concerned about now that I am feeding the deer to my young ones. I'm toying with changing to copper. Let me say though I don't think I need to change and my core-lokt works but just thinking about it.

What do you guys think? 100% weight retention sounds pretty cool.

    The remingtons?

I shoot the grey box winchesters, 180 .308. They are cheaper and shoot the best out of my gun.

Copper jacketed lead sabot. The only thing that will die from lead poisoning is the deer :) .

I don't think lead poisoning is anything to worry about when eating venison.

I don't think it is either. But that lead goes somewhere. Kids make you think about things you never think about when it is just you. LOL

Well, just my opinion, but it is a lot healthier for kids to eat a deer that was shot with a lead bullet than to eat the majority of meat sold in the supermarket.

I'm shooting Hornady Superformance with the 130 gr. GMX. My .270 loves it and I've gotten great performance out of it. 95% copper, 5% zinc :tu:

FYI, I wasn't personally afraid of lead, just thought it was the right thing to do.

The lead is rubbed off as it goes thru hide, bone & the wound channel. The meat around there is always nasty & I cut it out anyways so I can't see any amount of lead making it in to my edible meat. Even when I shoot copper solid solids from my slug gun, the wound channel meat is trimmed off.

That said I am a big fan of Hornady XTP bullets for my handguns & the remington copper solids from my slug gun. I dont really rifle hunt anymore but I used to use the core lokts.
