Where I hunt, we have a lot of squirrels and I stress a lot.... In fact we have blacks, grays, fox and any color combo you can imagine blending the three together...

Here is a photo showcasing all three for those of you who may not ever get to see such a diverse collection of them.

Thats a cool photo Scott, those black squirels are just awsome. I have a bunch of photos from when my buddy was living out there that he took. We are pretty much dominated by greys and red squirrels with a few fox thrown in.

I start them this time of year to see how the antler shedding process is going.... If you wait to long to start getting after them sheds, they will usually have bad damages from the rodents eating them. Once half or so are down, I start looking.

I'd be willing to bet you could bring a decent price for any black squirrels you could bring home with you without too large a hole in them from taxidermists...

buckeye, you put the corn piles out in hopes a buck will shed at that perticular spot or to get him on the game trail cam to note if hes shed or not? reason i ask is we have a few feeder spots and i was thinking of making a setup with wire weaved between stakes in the ground in hopes it might grab an antler off a buck while hes trying to feed under these feeders. any pointers on this would help thanks.

I have yet to find an antler in a baited camera setup. Once I see half or so of the bucks coming to the cameras antlers down I stop putting the corn out. Its a long walk carring the 50 pounds bags back to the woods from the field, and corn isn't cheap like it used to be.

My father in-law feeds deer at his house.... He has probably found 3 or 4 sheds in his corn pile over the years. All small sheds though.

My son would freak out! We have squirrels, but nothing like that, just greys. He's in full squirrel mode since deer season ended.

My grandmother used to say that black squirrels meant that someone was going to have good luck.
Unfortunatly, the albino ones meant someone was going to die.

My personal exp...the black ones meant a black squirrel was going to die...same with the white ones.

When I was a youngun. I used to just walk for hours at our cabin, and shoot squirrels. tasty...
then I would send their tails into Mepps, the spinner company. They would trade you for spinners, and what not.
It was good for exercise, and food.

I would love to see a black squirrel. I've never seen one here in Missouri. My neighbors son has a black one he shot here this year that he is taking to the taxi.

Do you see a lot of black squirrels?

Yes, I am honestly covered up in them... Lot of Oak trees in my area. High squirrel population.

Come on out in Sept next year and get ya some :d

That's a cool picture Scott. I have one spot on my property where a pair of black squirrels have been living for a few years. I didn't hunt the spot nearly as much this year, but the little bit I did hunt, they were spotted. I saw a blonde squirrel at Rob's last March, but that was the only other really interesting color phase I've seen besides black in my area. He was a bit lighter than the middle guy in your picture.
