I could live with that. Like you say, dude has to dump and there isn't many other options.

I think that a true proffesional would ask, or if they don't want to ask, then they would drive down the street and find a restroom. Most of customer service is how the customer percieves you. If they don't like what they see then they are not going to pass on your name to friends, instead they will post about it on a blog and everyone will get a chuckle out of it. But thats just how I think. That being said, I would have no problem with them using my bathroom if they asked.

If the bathroom wasn't offered by the homeowner then it should be expected that he ask to use it providing the home owner is present.

I usually show people working at my home were the bathroom is so we could do away with formality and they could just go when they need to.

I'm certain if they would of asked my wife would of said no problem. But her hearing the toliet flush and some guy come out of our bathroom (where there are no windows) rubbed her (and me) the wrong way.

I'm a contractor and yes, common courtesy is to ask if they mind if we use the restroom. I've never heard of anyone actually saying no so there's no reason to not ask ahead of time.

Sorry I was giving instructions and typing at the same time. I don't care if he uses it as long as he flushes

I forgot your wife was home when this occurred.

    Obviously they should have asked.

Was he outside and then came in unannounced? That would bug me. But I'm scary enough that I doubt anybody would just walk in with out all sorts of announcements.

If he were already inside, it wouldn't bother me. I would have already offered the 'guest' toilet and also access to water in the fridge.

If he urinates in my utility sink or garbage can, he gets killed where he stands. :D

He probably should have checked with the owner first. But that being said it could have been one of those times where he didn't have time to make that choice. His only concern could have been just getting to the bathroom.

I think he should have asked, but I also think you should let him use the bathroom after asking. It's unreasonable to think his bodily functions should cease happening because he's at your house. I personally would not be bothered by it at all.

So now it smells like a evergreen took a deuce? NICE! :p

If my wife and kids weren't home I wouldn't care what he did in there as long as he cleaned up after himself. :tu:

I'd have asked in his position but I also wouldn't have cared whatsoever that he didn't ask in your shoes...

As pointed out, the only time it would somewhat irk me is if they were working outside and came into the home unannounced.

I guess the one thing that you have to be aware of if you refuse to allow them would be they will improvise. Back when I worked with my FIL roofing we often had the problem of not being allowed in to use the rest room. We were often covered in asphalt shingle crap so we usually understood why. Well, we usually had an extra cup under the front seat of the truck for taking a leak and let's just say my FIL got caught only once taking a crap in the bushes LOL....
