Like I said before, I played in 10 T-ball games at age 5...so the buck stops with me if anyone wants to talk baseball.

What do I have to know about professional road races (foot races) to know it makes for TERRIBLE viewing?

LOL, I actually tried to argue the other day that watching road running on TV was more exciting than watching an NFL game because the athletes never stopped moving.

I didn't believe a word of what I was saying though.

But to answer your question, I don't know. I don't watch professional road running.

Is this fact due to "ignorance".....or simply the obvious?

Not to mention your hands are way behind you hips. Best your going to do with that swing is a lazy pop up to the right side of the infield.:D

I would rather watch the two worst NBA teams face up than watch the Yankees vs Red Sox.

Baseball bores the HELL out of me. I enjoy going to the games, but it would be tough for me to watch a whole game on TV even if you were paying me, besides maybe the world series.

I think anyone who complains about the speed of the sport being slow and THEN complains about the rules that actually force it to speed up....has zero merit in their arguement.

off topic a bit, but why do you think one and done players kill college basketball Caleb? Isn't it a LOT more fun watching players like Durant, Rose, Evans, etc (probably Wall and Cousins) play the game than if they weren't there at all? Should we "punish" them for being good at an earlier age than other people who took 4 years longer to develop their skill set? I LOVE the freshman superstars being a part of the game, who ever they decide to play for. I LOATHE UNC, but I can't wait to see Harrison Barnes put in major work on the floor next year, the kid is flat out amazing!

Does man-to-man coverage make the clock tick faster?

Obviously, you didn't understand my comment.

I should have said, it kills "Jeffs College Basketball"

The, im a righteous teenager who LOVES basketball so much and will do anything for the game, kind of basketball. And like i also mentioned, this really only pertains to the teams/players that have a chance of playing/producing in/for the NBA. Not the D3 schools. Those kids play there ass off for the game, without doubt.

I didnt mind watching Durant in a Texas uniform for a year, but we all know he was gone for money the moment it was over. The sooner the better for him.

Teach the guys to play INTENSE defense. I watched a bit of a game (Cavs vs. I have no idea), and all I did was watch LeBron take the ball down the court and dunk. I watched about 5 minutes of it never once did I see anyone put any pressure on the ball, or really try to stop it. To me it just looks like a bunch of REALLY good street players. I will watch the dunk contest though, since they can do some pretty impressive things with a basketball.

About the only time I watch pro players play are when the Olympic teams are competing.

Right but nothing is wrong with that....nothing a university could offer these players is worth more than the millions guaranteed in the NBA, despite everyone's education matters spill.

Best player to have suited up in a Texas uni in easily 2 decades, maybe ever. I wouldn't have minded either!:D

I can see both sides of the one and done rule....yeah it's holding back obviously talented players from gaining instant money in the NBA...but then again, the NBA is a BUSINESS and it protects teams from wasting millions on bust players in HS...gives atleast one more year to weed through the talent. It keeps NBA scouts out of high school gyms, and keeps them in the college games....Heck football has stiffer restrictions than this even yet not a sole complains.

The same arguement can be made of truly top talent college players, whether they are freshman-senior....they are ALL playing in hopes of the next level. Sherron Collins and Cole Aldrich are about as guaranteed to make the NBA next year as John Wall and Demarcus Cousins are....aren't they both playing for the same reasons? 2 were just talented enough to reach their goals years in advance.

Atlanta hawks ticket holder right here...and I am on here chatting with you guys. We are playing the clippers right now and I do not even know the score. When the celtics come to town (4 and 0 against them this year) or Kobe or Lebron I go...most games are very bad. Get up on the cavs by more than 8 with less than 5 to go...Lebron gets the ball at the top of the key, dribbles twice, elbows 2 players and dunks, if the dunk/layup is missed a foul is called...and repeat. I enjoy the game, but WILL not be a ticket holder next year. Watch Kobe doin work (the spike lee film...Kobe himself talks about how the league is soft and watered down and the refs do not let anyone play...he speaks of an NBA where Bird and Magic BATTLED night in and night out...maybe again one day.

I know that was a hopeless ramble, but oh well I digress.

I'm with Hooker all the way here. The NBA is doing really well for itself right now. In the late 90s early 2000s it was miserable because of the "AND 1 Movement" But Kobe, Lebron, Dwight Howard, Duncan, Chris Paul, etc. etc. are excellent stewards of the game. The fact that the game is becoming more and more international give it more credibility as well.

GMMAT made the statement that someone doesn't understand baseball, or something. Well, I think the majority on here don't fully understand basketball. I've played both baseball and basketball against and with those currently playing the MLB and NBA (more NBA than, Big Leaguers) and can recognize the beauty and complexity of each sport.

But saying that the NBA is boring or anything of the sort is a statement based solely on ignorance,FWIW IMHO :)

Again....I'll say that "ignorance" is NOT a dirty word. And again, I'll ask....what are we (me) ignorant of?

I understand the game of tic-tac-toe pretty darned well.......but I also find it a dismal example of viewing excellence.

I respect the game of basketball.....and what some of the more gifted can do on the court. I just don't like the game the NBA's selling.

I'm glad you realize ignorance is not an attack one someone. I've always defined ignorant as "a lack of knowledge."

My statement is simply that, a lack of knowledge about the depth and complexity of the game. I, in similar ways, am to basketball what you are to baseball.. atleast in this argument. I've played with and against loads of current college players at big time programs and competed against a couple current NBAers too. Similarly I've been coached and instructed by college and NBA scouts, coordinators and coaches. So I believe I have an above average understanding of the game.

Your baseball career I am most ignorant (;)) too, but I assume you have a better understanding than everyone on this site. So in regards to baseball we are ignorant compared to your experiences. That's my argument of ignorance.

As far as not liking the game the NBA's selling, that's just purely opinion. I love watching games from the 80s when the Lakers, Celtics, 76ers, Pistons went at it. Fundamentally, those players are probably superior to this generation. But I love watching games from today as well, because the skill set, to me, is SO impressive. I mean the footwork of Pau Gasol at 7'1 fascinates me and Lebron's overall athleticism is remarkable the things Chris Paul can do handling the basketball going 150mph is amazing.

    Just difference in opinions.

Absolutely (diff of opinions). I'm fine with that (and I know you are).

    I suppose I should have said.......IN MY OPINION....the NBA game SUCKS....lol.

In NO WAY am I saying the game of basketball sucks. I don't feel that way, at all.

Pretty much what I was saying. Here's a guy with season tickets and doesn't want to go to the games he already has tickets for unless Kobe or Lebron come to town. Even then it's a joke. And there are plenty more in his boat I'm willing to bet.

I don't know about this whole argument. Actually it kind of proves my (our)point. What you're saying is the NBA game caters to those that understand the depth and complexity of the game? Those that are ignorant to such things can't enjoy an NBA basketball game? If that's the case then I'd say 80% of America thinks it sucks too. You can watch a football game without knowing what HB belly strong on 2 means. A fan that doesn't fully understand the "complexity" of the game can sit, watch and be entertained. I think the same can be said for baseball. A little slower and less entertaining to the average sports fan that doesn't know the "complexity" of the game, but still provides entertainment and the average joe can follow the game.

Like I said earlier I like the game of basketball a lot. Matter of fact I REALLY understand the complexities of the game. Been playing it , studying it and coaching it for years. I just think it sucks at the NBA level. Not entertaining to the average fan. Hell not entertaining to this fan who isnt ignorant (not according to some here) about the game. Just don't like it.
