How is it ignorance? I love the GAME of basketball. I've played it all my life. I've coached 2 different teams for the last decade. I LOVE college basketball. March Madness is my favorite sporting event in the world (even above the masters). I know the game, i like the game, I play the game (still), I coach the game. Not sure how ignorant I am about it. I want the NBA to be more than it is. I used to be really into the NBA back in the day. No ignorance here just a fact that todays game ...................... SUCKS in the NBA.

"Ignorance" isn't a dirty word. But it begs the question......what are we missing?

That's cool, 2lung. I think I played in over 150 games, between my freshman fall and the time I reported for my soph. year. Extrapolate that for the next 2 years......then add in about another 100 for my senior yr. Then, we can back-track from HS back (estimating 60/yr - from there, back).

    Great game, huh?!!

The NBA is the most boring pre-playoff sport in existence.

You know what really grinds my gears.

465 possessions in the final minute, 34 of them in the final 10 seconds.

Strategy or not...it sucks. And i hate it.

The ignorance comment was to NYBH.

And we all know you played baseball. You've only told us several thousand times.

The first round of the playoffs aren't much better. It seems that 80% of the teams make the playoffs.

You are ignorant to what is actually going on in the NBA today. You haven't followed the teams, the league, or the players. If you did, you would realized that the NBA is better than it has been in years right now. It does have star power. LOTS of star power. Just because you don't know about it, doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Hey....I didn't know we were talking about the viability/popularity of the league. If so, then I recant. It's strong.

I just can't for the life of me understand WHY. The NBA game (as it's played, today)....SUCKS.

What's going on besides Kobe and Lebron? Durant? Howard? Anthony? playing by themselves? Yippy. Where are the intense rivalries like the Yanks vs. Boston or Cowboys vs. Giants or Vikings vs Packers? What game are we dying to tune into to watch in the NBA? Watch one superstar against another? Or one powerhouse team play another powerhouse team?

Seriously what game would the general public be rushing to the TV to turn on and watch? The average sports fan would want to watch ____________________ vs. __________________

It's more popular than it was 10 years ago because the top tier teams are actually playing good basketball.

    Really.

Yes, there are some really crappy teams, as there are in every other professional sports league, but at the top end, the game is being played very well.

Heck, I never said it wasn't being played competitively. I'm sure there's some really competitive curling matches being played around the world, currently.

Not at all. As long as the negative things have merit, I'll listen.

Any of the top teams playing each other, I would think...

Lakes, Cavs, Celtics, Spurs, Magic, Denver, Dallas, Utah, etc...
