If you've read my introduction post, you'd know I haven't shot a proper bow that fits me all but a handful of times. It's spring now and just started shooting...The bow I have is an old Darton SL30. I've always wanted a whisker biscuit but after installing it and tuning..I'm getting a consistent left tail tear. After a closer look it appears that even with the rest completely inward, the arrow is still pointing drastically to the left. Tried washers, but the bolt is too short. I have no clue when the biscuit and drop rest were first available...but could it be that this bow is too old to have been compatible with those? Should I run to the nearest shop and pick me up a rubber stick on?
I'm not sure I can answer your specific questions however I can tell you a drop away rest will certainly make your tuning efforts much easier. You will be more consistent as well! I never have understood the attraction to WBs myself.... IMO to many drawbacks.
It worked folks. Put the cheapo rubber rest on her and she's shooting straight as...well....an arrow :P Feels GREAT to have a properly tuned bow (well, for ME being the one to tune it) and it feels fantastic to be hitting 1'' groups consistantly (although it's only 5 yards away). But consistency is what I'm aiming for..literally. Can't wait til the weekend to test both me and the bow at longer ranges. Thanks for the warm welcome folks and I look forward to the day my fiance and I get to feast on my first bow-kill.
