This girl came cruising by with her girlfriend at about 0800. She came about 5 yards away, I "maaa'ed" her (something new I'm doing this year) and sent the arrow on it's way. I hit her a tad high but still sliced thru a lung. This is my first deer with a mechanical broadhead, I used a 125gr rage. I wasn't impressed with the blood trail but I blame that on the shot placement. Fresh tenderloin for dinner tonight.

What do you think of this self portrait? :)

    Thanks guys!

Greg, I won't say I've never "maaaa'd" before but I just can't remember. I've always been afraid it would spook the deer but I actually think not "maaaa'n" makes me rush the shot. So, I'm gonna try to do this from now on when the deer is not stopped.

Aaron...It wasn't too windy here this morning. This evening is a different story though. Chilly wind.

    Congrats on a nice doe.

I have used the baaah sound for years but ONLY when I have to.Usually to stop a deer in a shooting lane.I love to shoot walking deer but only if the cover allows for it.Sometimes they need to be stopped so they won't walk behind a tree.

Remember this,a deer that has been stopped is a fully alert deer.IMO,they are quicker to react to the shot if stopped,at least that has been my experience. This COULD be the cause of the high hit.
