Us Gator fans have to endure such years when so mush talent is turned over to the NFL and assistant coaches become head coaches at other schools. The Gators will be back soon!
We were, until Brantley proved to be a total flop. Much of the burden falls on the OC Steve Addazzio. UF had TWO first downs and something close to 50 yards in the first half. Much of the burden falls on Johnny be bad for overthrowing receivers and catching batted balls for 10 yard losses. A lot of the burden falls on Urban Meyer for letting this go on for two years. Yes, Florida was plenty good last year but there defense is the reason they went 13-1. The offense last year was only as good as Tebow made it. They recruit too well to be 6-4 with three home losses and look as inept as they do on offense. There defense is still very good though, so that's a plus.
Not to sound the trumpet for myself, but I said after 2 games this season that South Carolina would win the east. They may have made me nervous, but I was proved correct in my prediction.
I can't speak for Germ, but as a fellow Michigan fan I can give you my opinion... First, I don't "hate" anyone, but I can tell you the constant abuse the Big Ten has taken from the SEC in recent years was not fun to watch. Even less fun, being reminded about it everytime you turn on the TV. Not saying most of it wasn't justified, but it gets a little annoying. As far as Urban Cryer is concerned, his constant whining..err lobbying...seemed to push Florida past Michigan in the BCS while Michigan was idle. Anytime you win a bunch of games you are going to have s. Add some whining, some lack of class, and a humorous boy crush into the mix, and there are going to people that don't care for the program.
Brantley needs to be benched... Trey Burton is going to be one hell of a QB - break him in now and let Brantley ride the bench. Anyone who hates FL...then stop coming down to my state for vacation, we don't want you anyway, you just annoy those of us who live there. Yeah, I'm pissed we suck, and the worst part is that we lost to Steve Spurrier, a turn coat traitorous scumbag jack ass who I heard pimps himself out to the Big 10 coaches, since they all are obviously gay... Think that covers it. I'm just not a happy Gator these days....nothing personal. Well, except for Vito, I am getting a bit concerned about your obvious fascination with Tim Tebow...he seems to be in a lot of your posts.
You guys hatin on Brantly need to realize he is a stud, Drop back passing QB, not a spread offense guy. Let him drop back 3, 5 or 7 steps and get the ball to all those athletes in space and you guys are gonna be alright. remember, your previously planned starting QB is running the show at Auburn right now, so that is an issue as well. I have said it a 100 times, a 4 year starter at QB absolutely kills a program for a year or 2, if you have a guy ready and waiting. If not it takes even longer.
And you seem to mention my name in a lot of your posts. Man crush on me maybe? What is it with you Florida guys and man crushes??? I'm flattered, but no thanks.
Easy friend. If it weren't for Spurrier Florida wouldn't even be relevant in college football. He has clearly come and gone at UF, but he is certainly always respected and for what he did for the football program. Trey Burton will likely never play QB at Florida, at least I hope not. He's a heck of a football player though. He can play 4 different positions and the staff just needs to find ways to get him the ball. He makes plays. The reason I say that I hope he never plays QB is because I like the looks of Jordan Reed so far. He's huge, appears to be able to throw the ball well and is suited perfectly for Urban's awesome. He's a poor man's Cam Newton right now with the potential to be a big time playmaker. Plus, we sighed Jeff Driskell, the number 1 High School QB in the nation who can throw it and run it as well. Big and suited for Urban's offense too. Michael- I've defended Brantley for much of the season and you are right, he is a good drop back QB who is the absolute worst system for his talents. But he's playing terribly. He looks lost under pressure and folds, can't make quick reads, can't run the ball and routinely overthrows receivers. He looks lost and scared on the field and I don't see the leadership qualities a 4th year quarterback should have. I like Johnny Brantley I really do, but he is just flat out not getting it done. Cam Newton's dismissal from the team (or decision to leave on his own, depending on who you talk to) has set the Florida program back 2 years.
I lost respect for Spurrier when he just up an left us w/o warning... I'm an Alum, he's dead to me. Same with my wife, she hates him as much as I do. You might be right about Reed...have to see.
For the record I hated Urban when he coached at BG also. Because all I hear is how great the SEC is on ESPN, it drives me nuts. Urban is just like Brett F, he is a giant media grabbing SOB. I quit, no I am not quiting, I quit
I don't have an exact number just because of players lost to graduation that played important roles. But off the top of my head they lost: Maurkice Pouncey- Starting Center for the Steelers Brandon Spikes- Starting MLB for the Pats Aaron Hernandez- Starting TE/WR for the Pats Jermaine Cunningham- I'm not sure if he starts, but gets a lot of playing time at line backer for the Pats. Tim Tebow- QBing for the Broncos Joe Haden- CB for the Browns Major Wright- Safety for the Bears Riley Cooper- WR for the Eagles Carlos Dunlap- Plays for the Bengals Brandon James- KR for the Colts David Nelson- Playing for the Bills Ryan Stamper- No NFL future right now, but he was a tremendous college player. James, Tebow, Spikes, Pouncey, Dunlap, Haden, and Hernandez were all All-Americans either last year or the year prior. Plus they lost their defensive coordinator Charlie Strong to Louisville and their special teams coach left too. Those are the starters lost from the 2009 team, plus like I said key reserves who graduated, but that's just a quick rundown.
