Just got a call from Peak. He managed to lay the smackdown on another doe this morning! Way to go buddy!!!!
Thank You all! I only got one pic because I had to hurry and get her gutted and checked in and head off to a part time thingy. I will post the story when I get back this evening I am done with the job and heading back out. I seen a monster on the backside of this property I have permission to hunt on my way to check the doe in. Gosh I sure hope this works out. T Thanks much Ferg.
Alright I was on stand about 05:25 AM and about 06:35 AM my phone vibrates and I decided to answer it thinking its the wife. Well it is the guy I do the part time thingy for and he needs me to work today so I said ok give me a half hour. After about 15 minutes I get down and started heading back east to my truck parked behind the farm and uncle's house in the cut corn field. I get to the tree line and step into the field and look south and in the South west corner about 200ish yards are 2 deer standing over there. So I stop for a sec and they are looking my way and I decided to keep walking otherwise they will book it. Sure enough they put their head's back down and start feeding. I get to the truck put the bow in the case and get out the binoculars to see if any bucks down there with them. Nope not bucks so I am thinking alright I am gonna screw around with my tru talker and see what happens. I throw 2 bah bah at them and 1 doe puts her head straight up and looks my way. So I throw 3 more at them and the lead doe starts walking my way and the other into the woods. I thought this is neat lets give her 2 more. So I do and now she starts to jog at me with the other doe right behind me. I am like holey crap are they actually going to come up here with my truck right here. So I dunk down (I am on backside of truck) sneak to the back of my truck and pull the bow out of the case. I get back up front open the door and grab an arrow out of the cab. So now I am peaking threw the window and I see they are about 100 yards away. I give a couple more of the bah bah and chit now they are on a dead bee line for the front of my truck. I pull that bow back and they get about 30 yards in front of my truck and I have the bow aimed between the truck cab and my door with the attenna in the middle. The doe's stop but bad angle and stood for about 10 seconds. The one doe starts to job away so the other decides to start walking away. I give one final bah and she stops perfectly sideways with maybe a slight quartering away. I lay the 40 yard pin on her and dropped her with a spine shot. Turns out she only went about 3-4 yards and it was 35ish away. I couldnt believe what just happened when I look back to that corner and maybe 60 yards closer to me steps out a coyote. I give 2 bah bah and it starts running towards that doe down. I couldnt get that yote within 80 yards but it was cool. I got that doe gutted and registered and dropped it off at a old timers house all by 08:10. I gave it to the old timer because he cant hunt much anymore and he seemed like a really nice guy. Plus it turned out this guy makes plaques for deer racks and said next time I shoot a buck I want put on on a plaque come on over and he will take care of me. Good things happen to good people is all I can say. Thanks for putting up with this long story but you can picture having to leave your stand early during prime time and feeling a bit down and then all this happens. From now on ol Peak is always staying positive because anything can happen.:-) Sorry I only got 1 pic in my rush to get everything done. Sorry its in the back of my truck but all I had was my camera phone. Following where I was when shot occured.
