Thanks everyone for the kind words! It was truly one of my best hunts I've ever experienced. I figured I'd also take the opportunity to throw a tip in also for all you guys that hunt Wisconsin and other states that have similar laws. My tag is right under my hand that I have on his rack. You have to keep it legal, and tag your deer before you move it. You'll see that I do that on the upcoming episode. I fold up the tag, attach it with a zip tie, and make sure the tag is on the back on the antler. Cover it up with your hand, and your legal, and you don't have to see that ugly tag in your pics! Good luck everyone, be safe, and shoot str8! BHOD!
this May be a stupid question but since you were talking about that dean I was wondering, is it legal to take the tag off of the deer when your ready to mount it?
I haven't seen many other left handed shooters "other than myself" around at 3D shoots or on show so I was kinda curious.
Dean- Awesome buck my friend...Thanks everyone for the encouraging words. Best part is that I still have another WI buck tag! BHOD go get em!
Definitely not a stupid question. The only stupid question there is, is the one that didn't get asked! Yes it is legal. We have to register the deer 1st, which I did the next morning at a local gas station. They will put on a metal tag, around the antler, and then cut the original tag. After that you should be good, but the metal tag then must stay with the meat, and it doesn't need to be on the cape & head.
What!!!!!!! What do you mean you have another tag?!!!! lol Good for you bud! I'll have to do some homework and find some land where I can get another one!!!! Good luck brother!!!
I'm showing my wife this post! Just to let her know I still got it....even if it is in a forum full of dudes!
Deano- I'm in a CWD zone so I used a buck tag from a doe I killed last year. Now I'm free to roam statewide in chase of the elusive whitetail. too bad it's the youth hunt this weekend!
very nice bucks guys! I dont know if you knew this but there was another guy that was getting some trail camera pics of this buck http://gjhunting.forumotion.com/t1783-gol-darnit
