At my age and position in life I ponder the great hunts and trophies I would have had if I just would have pounded my nuts flat with a wooden mallet when I was 15
Nope. That is not what they are doing when they hand out condoms. How can someone of you not understand this?
Wow, great thread Tony. Brad lol that was awesome. Pretty much expected the answers that everyone gave in this thread. I'm not for giving out condoms in our public schools but not for any abstinence reasons because people are people even if they are young people they all have a different drive system and what works for one won't be right for the other. Since I have a daughter that is going to be 16 in a couple of months I have turned into the biggest "ROOSTER" blocking "M"er "F"er on the planet. I hate it but boys are still just as perverted and sneaky as I was in high school. 2 reasons not to hand out condoms, first unless they are donated by the condom company or a private business tax dollars are paying for them. That's just not right. second if you are old enough to play you'll be old enough to pay. It's responsibility and the parents to teach it. Don't rely on the government to give you stuff even if it could help you in the long run.
As far as tax dollars paying for it, I'm sure you could find enough private donors to chip in. A quick search on the google machine, I can buy 1,000 condoms for $222. Wouldn't be too hard to raise that much money.
Tony How is a school providing condoms to students that ask for them pushing any belief or agenda, other than safe sex, onto unwilling students? The school isn't handing the condoms out in gift packets. The students have to willingly ask for them.
You will find it hard to find someone more fiscally conservative than me. There are very few things that I think the government should pay for. This is one of them. Teen pregnancies are huge public expenseand and often a life time expense considering some of the communities that this situation is prevalent in. This is a good investment long term if we aren't adding to the population on dole.
I am about as conservative as they come. (No pun intended) But, I really don't have a chubby over schools having condoms available by request. I would prefer that there be some counseling and/or education that goes with them as to the importance of waiting. But, the fact of the matter is, some kids will not wait. Many kids will not wait. The availability of condoms is not the deciding factor. The parents and the child's own will is the deciding factor.
Explain to me how some of you feel that it's ok for schools to withhold information from the parents of these kids. The school gives out the condoms, or even facilitate an abortion, all without knowledge or permission from the parents. To me, there is a fundamental flaw in this. Again, the schools job is to provide education.
