I have the .40c as well and really enjoy it. I haven't put a ridiculous amount of rounds through it but it has done well so far. I do like that the only safety on it is the trigger pull so that I don't have to worry about it if I'm ever in a situation where it matters. I believe it's fully reversible for left/right handed shooters too with interchangeable grip sizes for different sized hands. I always use the clips with the pinky extension whenever I'm shooting because I don't like my pinky overhanging.

When you find what you want slugger look at kholster.com for iwb....I carry my glock 30 and have to feel if its there sometimes.....just like the crossbreed super tuck only lighter on the wallet

As far as xds goes heres my .02....it is a great gun for ccw....its def not as fun to shoot as a bigger gun like the glock....recoil is very managable but a lot harder to put groups in paper in a rapid fire situation and it doesnt settle as nicely after the shot....I dont like the grip....at all....to narrow and short for me...this is to be expected with its size though.....its a good gun overall and most I know that have it like it just not for me.....youre doing the right thing by waiting to get some lead through some different options and youll find what you like....I have 5 that I carry at different times and in different situations....dont want to talk about how many I went through to get to those 5 though:banghead:

Another thought to if youre set on 45 is the glock 36.....thats about as compact as you can get and still have the feel of a full size 45 imo

After much research between the xds I am running into more people pushing towards the glock's. Gonna keep looking until I get something I really want.

My buddy conceal carries an M&P not every day, but 2-3 times/week (he also has a Glock23.) After less than 4 months, one of which was spent at Springfield due to the recall, he is already getting pitting. He takes care of his weapons; this gun is less than a year old; and it's not like he's carrying it on the deck of a ship at sea, either. He just sent it back to Smith, but let's just say he's very unhappy with the (lack of) quality. It definitely scared me off of the Smith - and I really liked the look and feel and was kicking around the idea of buying one.

My dad's got an XDM .40, and he likes it, but I'm not a fan of the grip safety as I imagine they can get fouled when working in dusty environments.

I will stick with Glock subcompacts - lightweight, very concealable, nearly indestructible, double stacked mags and even have the option to use their bigger brother's magazines; more than doubling the firepower of most subcompacts without sacrificing much in the way of concealment.

I also like the PX4 storm subcompacts, but they are a little heavy compared to the Glock, although in .40 do kick a little less due to the increased weight.

Whatever you pick, shoot it first. There are gun stores that have ranges and rental/demo guns.

Thanks for the response. I currenly carry an m&p .40 and have prob about 5,000 rounds through it with no big issues at all. great gun. Looking for something smaller. Really looking at the G19 now or possibly the G26. No rush for me though just weighing all the options.

Hasn't there been multiple recalls on the XDS's and M&P's?

After carrying for the last 6 months almost daily and most weekends for the year before that..........I just moved to IL last month and I feel naked right now since I can't carry here yet. Can't wait to get this FOID process and CCW permit process completed. After spending $500, 2+ years, and 24+ hours of training, I can't believe I had to start this process over again right now.

Anyhow, I typically was carrying either a Dan Wesson Guardian, Glock 19, or Sig P238. I would pack the most gun that I could conceal based on what I was wearing. Most of the summer I had the Sig but would step up to the Glock quickly if I was wearing anything other than a t-shirt.

My P238 had maybe 2-3 fail to ejects in the first 50 rounds. Since then I've got around 700 rounds through it and it runs everything except PDX-1's flawlessly. It won't chamber the PDX-1's for some reason, something about the feed ramp and the profile of the front of that bullet. I do have about 150 rounds of the Gold Dot 90gr loads through it and it runs them with no issues. I carry it in a McCabe's Custom Leather IWB. While this holster looks killer and conceals with shorts and even a tighter fitting t-shirt, I'll likely be selling the holster to fund a Crossbreed MiniTuck. The McCabe just isn't as comfortable as I know a Crossbreed will be.

My Guardian runs anything I put through it. Had maybe 3 fail to ejects in the first 30 rounds. Since changed over to Wilson ETM's and Ed Brown magazines and hasn't skipped a beat in another 1200ish rounds. I've carried this in a variety of holsters and just sold them all (Galco VHawk, Galco Concealable, Milt Sparks Summer Special) to fund a Crossbreed which should be here in another few weeks. While the other holsters looked nice, they just weren't comfortable. I'm carrying 200gr +P Gold Dots in this one only because I couldn't find 230gr regular Gold Dots.

My Glock 19 Gen4 probably sees the most carry. It's just the most comfortable and conceals well in everything but tighter fitting t-shirts. I carry it in a Crossbreed SuperTuck. It's the most comfortable holster I've ever had after going through about $600 worth of them on various guns in the trial and error process. I've got over 1000 rounds through the glock and it's never malfunctioned. I've shot some crap ammo through it too and it just never even hiccups. I'm significantly more accurate when shooting fast and multi shot strings when compared to anything else, and in the last several months it's moved into my first pick due to confidence with it. I'm carrying 124gr +P Gold Dots in this one.

One more thing to add......I do have a set of Trijicon HD's on top of my Glock. I'll be installing a set on my Guardian soon as well because those sights make a big difference in really fast target acquisition and staying on target during rapid fire. I have a set of regular Trijicon's on the Guardian but they aren't as quick to align as the HD's during daylight and fast shooting. I'm not into tricking out a self defense pistol but these sights are fantastic.

Thanks for the insight Matt. I have been watching Cory and Erika on youtube and they always push for those HD sights on there G19's. Looking to go that route too. Again thanks!

Lots of great carry pistols have been mentioned already, and I'll add a vote for the ruger LC9. My wife carries this particular gun and loves it.
