i know most here shoot a compound bow. but have thought before it would be fun to toy around with a traditional style bow just to switch it up a bit. Now i am also thinking it would be fun to play with a crossbow. not sure if i would hunt with one but just to shoot in the back yard and have a little fun since i have never shot one. i love bowhunting so i dont think i cud give that up for a xbow during the season do any of yall play with toys other than your compound through out the year? or hunt with other types of archery equipment too i guess?
I hunt all year with a compound and crossbow i love it i use my bow during deer season unless its like negative 40 then i bring my crossbow to hard to draw a bow in that cold of weather after sitting for hours in it but i hunt yotes all year with my crossbow and bow i also hunt skunks , possums , ground hogs , rabbits and coons with my bow and crossbow but crossbows are alot of fun to play with i orig got one so my wife and two sons could hunt shes now moved to a bow but my sons are young and cant draw a bow or take the recoil from a muzzle loader yet i sit them in a blind with it and they love to hunt deer with the crossbow its awesome .
Mainly compound but switch it with shotgun when can use it. Dont think it'd be too bad trying out xbow sometime but idk if will any time soon.
I'm only a compound bow guy, but I love watching those cats with their recurves and long bows. A lot of those guys make their own. What a cool hobby that would be. Unfortunately, I can't cut a 2x4 straight.
I have all 3. I hunt with the compound and crossbow (depends on what I'm hunting or where as to which I use). I shoot 3-D tourn with the compound and occasionally with the recurve. Just getting back with the recurve, shot it in college, but that was a very long time ago. I don't know that I will ever hunt with it.
I shoot a compound, but I have a nice guava blank that I harvested myself that a buddy is going to help me shape into a longbow. He has made done beauties, I can't wait to make mine! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Just got my first compound bow (Bear Anarchy)want to get a long bow for fun but ever since I held a Matthews Creed XS in my hand I can't get it out of my head. So I might get one before I buy a long bow. As for a crossbow I will wait till I'm too old and decrepit to pull my bow string back.
X-bows have their own set of challenges in a hunting scenario. I know this now that I own one. I am going to harvest at least one doe with it this coming season and see what it does for me. I bought it more for my kids then anything else. Fills the void until they can draw the required 40 lbs. I will say its pretty fun to shoot!
