I wouldn't worry about them jokers, they are probably jealous. Have fun with the new xbow and put a big one down, that'll shut their mouths. Good Luck!
At this point, I have never hunted with a crossbow. However, it gets my 13 yr old daughter in the woods during bow season. That's a good enough reason for me to agree with them during bow season. Had a been using a x-bow on my spot n stalk antelope hunt this past august, I feel certain I would have tagged a nice buck. I had gotten to 27 yds and he busted me drawing my compound. Im sure I could have gotten off the shot with a x-bow. No doubt there are advantages over vertical bows. This is obvious, but I don't think anyone should lobby against x-bow hunters being in the woods at the same time.
