Hey everyone, I am new to the forum and to bowhunting in general and was curious what people thought about my current situation. I am looking for a first compound bow mostly just for practice and have come across 4 good deals on used bows. Which of these four older bows do people think might still have the best value and the most left in them? Any advice on buying used bows? I am choosing between an old Myles Keller Flatliner Xi, an Xi Legend, a Darton Renegade XT and an old High Country bow. Any advice would help.
When you say "good deal" that's relative. I wouldn't be paying more than a couple hundred for those rigs if they're fully decked out. Be sure that the draw length fits you and plan on replacing the strings and cables unless they have been replaced fairly recently. We used to have a High Country dealership and for a while there was a problem with the coatings (I think it was "armorcoat" or "armortough") coming off the limbs. Check at the limb pockets for this. As with anything used, make sure you inspect it fully first or buy from a very trustworthy source. You don't want to end up with something that's been damaged through neglect.
Yeah, none of these set ups would cost me more than 150 bucks, at most. I was more just wondering if the aforementioned bows were quality or not, in their time of course. They would be fully outfitted, but I was curious as to whether or not I would need to replace the strings. Thanks for the input.
