You are correct. The late winter and late spring green up put a dent in their growth. They seem to be catching up now though.

Oh, and that is a heck of a buck!

Depending on how warm the summer and fall is, if the rut runs later up there this year then they will keep growing, if they start getting that testosterone going from shorter days, cooler nights and less nutrition, their body goes into pre-rut mode. Either way, he's a nice buck, good luck chasing him.

I don't have any velvet pics from last year on this guy but I am fairly certain it is the same deer. Small 10 last year at 3.5 yrs.

This year he is lookin to be a main frame 12 with some junk. So far I can count 14 points total.

He has made a pretty good jump, next year he will be stellar.

Still haven't got a pic of my #1 hit lister in velvet, but hoping to change that this week.

This is the object of my obsession this fall. I'm hopin he will be 170ish this fall. His weak side (left) shed that I found scored 61 2/8. His right side was a good 7-8 in bigger. Think he was 150ish last year.

Thats a great deer. I have trouble picking out marks on deer to say yes this is the deer from last year. They all look alike and there brothers and off-spring carry the same genes so there are lots of deer that look alike to me..Is that racist?
